Vehicle Fire Quickly Contained by Franklin Park Volunteers

Shortly after midnight, Franklin Park Volunteer Fire Company responded to a vehicle fire along a roadway in our community.

Upon arrival, crews found the vehicle fully involved with flames extending into the surrounding hillside vegetation. Thanks to the quick actions of our firefighters, the fire was rapidly contained before it could spread further and develop into a larger brush fire requiring additional resources.

We are grateful for the dedication of our volunteer members who answer the call at all hours of the day and night to protect our community. Their commitment, training, and rapid response make a difference when seconds count.

Thank you to all of our volunteers for your continued service and dedication to Franklin Park.

Earlier today, crews from Franklin Park Volunteer Fire Company responded to Interstate 79 for a unique and challenging incident involving a semi truck.

A pipe that was part of a mesh cover system on the rear of the trailer made contact with an overhead highway sign, leaving the pipe impaled in the structure. Firefighters worked carefully to stabilize the scene and safely cut the pipe away from the roadway sign to remove the hazard and help reopen the area safely for motorists.

We appreciate the cooperation of responding agencies and the patience of drivers during the incident.

Please remember to slow down and move over for emergency crews working along our roadways.

Busy Night for Franklin Park Volunteer Fire Company

Strong, gusty winds that moved through the area Friday afternoon caused an electric utility line issue that sparked a large brush fire in Franklin Park. The fire quickly spread across approximately 3–4 acres and required a coordinated response from multiple departments.

Franklin Park Volunteer Fire Company responded alongside our mutual aid partners from McCandless Fire Department stations in Ingomar, Highland, and Peebles, along with Ohio Township. Working together, crews were able to contain the fire and protect nearby properties.

Between 5:10 PM Friday evening and the early hours of Saturday morning, firefighters handled a total of 13 emergency calls. Crews finally cleared the last incident and returned home around 2:00 AM Saturday after many hours of demanding work.

We would like to thank our mutual aid partners for their assistance and the community for their continued support.

Franklin Park Volunteer Fire Company is always looking for dedicated new members who want to serve their community. If you are interested in becoming a firefighter or helping in a support role, we encourage you to reach out and learn how you can get involved.

Stay safe, and thank you for supporting your local volunteer firefighters.

Franklin Park Borough families — a quick holiday safety reminder!

As you’re decorating and celebrating, please remember to keep your Christmas tree well-watered. A hydrated tree stays fresh longer and greatly reduces the risk of a fire hazard in your home.

Stay safe and enjoy the season.
