Deptford High School held a Patriot Day remembrance ceremony today, recognizing the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C.

Firefighters from the Deptford Fire Department, in full gear, marched up and down the steps of Joe Corbi & Jim Hawkins Spartan Stadium, honoring the climb made by first responders 25 years ago. Student involvement included members of our choir, band & NJROTC, with hundreds of additional students, staff & Deptford Township Police Department officers attending and cheering on the firefighters.

Thank you to everyone involved in the creation of this event: for honoring the memory of the 3,000 people who died in the attacks, and for helping put these events in context for our Spartans who were not yet born. As Mr. Maxson shared, you don't have to have been there to remember. 🇺🇸🧑‍🚒👮🧑‍⚕️🖤💛

Big thank you to Ms. Kiera Paulson, one of our district’s Speech Language Pathologists, for her efforts in acquiring this donation. We appreciate all our speech professionals for their continued work on building inclusivity and giving every student a voice! 🖤💛

Many of our schools are holding kick-off assemblies to set the tone for a positive, successful school year.

This morning, Lake Tract welcomed their Spartans on day four with an outdoor event centered around the core value of respect. There was lots of school spirit, black & gold, and examples of how words, thoughts, and actions can show respect for each other, our school, and ourselves. 🖤💛
