Amy Lyons began her volunteer career with Bear Creek in July 2024, around the same time she was hired full-time with the Seward Fire Department.

Amy brings a wealth of experience from her background as a backcountry guide, leading expeditions all over Alaska. She entered the fire service as a Wilderness EMT and is currently working toward her Advanced EMT certification.

Since joining Bear Creek, Amy has earned her Swiftwater Rescue I, Firefighter I & II, Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations, Fire Instructor I & II, Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator – Pumper, Fire 2, and most recently, Rope Rescue I & II certifications.

Amy has become a valuable member of the department, contributing to search and rescue incidents, sharing her knowledge during training, and always stepping up to help wherever she's needed. She's also always a joy to be around, bringing a positive attitude and energy that makes every shift and training a little better.

When she's not responding to calls, Amy enjoys snowmachining, rock climbing, packrafting, hiking, fishing, bird hunting with her furry companion, Casey Jones, mountain biking, and camping.

If you see Amy around town or at the station, be sure to wish her luck on her upcoming Advanced EMT exam!

Yesterday, Bear Creek assisted the National Park Service with a backcountry rescue for an injured hiker. With the help of RCC, responders were able to quickly and safely get the patient out of the field. The mission was capped off with an impressive Black Hawk helicopter response. What a beautiful day for a search and rescue call!
