Join us at 11 a.m. CST, tomorrow, Friday, February 16, 2024 on Instagram Live. In this series, graduates from a diverse range of fields and levels of experience share insight into their careers, key decisions and actions that made a difference, how their time at Sewanee developed career-readiness, and advice for those launching their careers.
This week our guest will be Dr. Cortez Brown, C’16, who is a surgical resident in orthopaedics at the University of Pittsburg Medical Center and is the founder and board chair of Octavian Village.
Octavian Village was created in 2022 to increase educational equity throughout Florida’s Treasure Coast and beyond. It focuses on developing and maintaining high-quality, low-cost, and replicable interventions to address educational gaps for future leaders. At the same time, Cortez has been pursuing his medical career at UPMC in Pittsburgh.
Cortez was a biology major while at Sewanee and graduated from Florida State University College of Medicine with both his M.D. and M.S. in Biomedical Sciences. He was a co-founder of the Sewanee Multicultural Health Society, a member of the Sewanee Health Professions Society, was a two-sport athlete (football and track and field), served as a proctor, and was a member of SGA and the Honor Council.
See you Live!
