deRosset House

deRosset House Circa 1872 family home remodeled and updated by Sewanee alumna Susan Holmes, C'76 and her husband Gre Old Sewanee style. In the middle of campus.

Comfortable and authentic. The house was built by John Elam in 1872. By 1900 it had changed hands and was owned by the deRosset Family. Through the 1900s several members of the deRosset Family lived in the house, the last being Armand and Rachel deRosset who retired to Sewanee in the early 1970s. After his death in January 1995 the house was conveyed to the Society for the Promotion of Christian Knowledge. There is much more history, but you must visit Sewanee and the University Archives!

It's beginning to seem a little like fall. The poplars and dogwoods are turning. The mums are beginning to appear. It is still warm enough to sit on the porch for dinner or enjoy the deck with a little breeze. Come join us for a respite!
