SCUD technicians and contractors are currently working in the Sevierville area and will be in the area for approximately the next few months as part of our annual Natural Gas Leak Survey.

During this time, you may see our technicians and contractors working in and around homes, businesses, schools, and churches. This annual survey is required by the U.S. Department of Transportation and is an important part of maintaining the safety and reliability of our natural gas system.

At SCUD, safety is our greatest commitment. Being proactive in identifying and repairing natural gas leaks—most of which are minor—helps prevent potential hazards and keeps our customers and communities safe.

The award was presented by Allen Morefield, Compliance and Safety Director at Unicoi County Gas Utility District, on behalf of the Natural Gas Distributors Association of East Tennessee.

SCUD is proud to partner with KUB to help educate our communities about the importance of safe digging. Together, we're working to protect underground infrastructure, prevent utility damage, and keep our neighbors safe—because every safe dig starts with calling 811 before you dig.

Shout-out to our Safe Digging Partner, Knoxville Utilities Board (KUB), for putting underground utility safety front and center across East Tennessee with support from a Tennessee Underground Damage Prevention Fund grant.

Managed by the Tennessee Public Utility Commission (TPUC), the grant program supports public awareness, education, and outreach focused on safe digging and preventing damage to underground utilities.

KUB has partnered with Lenoir City Utilities Board and Sevier County Utility District to install two safe digging billboards near the western and eastern edges of its service territory: I-40 East near the Watt Road weigh station and 8234 Chapman Highway. Together, they are reminding thousands of drivers to contact 811 before digging.

Thank you to KUB and its utility partners for investing in public awareness and helping protect Tennessee’s communities and underground utilities!
