The Sevierville Police Department was formed in 1901 by an act of City Council. The City is a Board of Mayor and Aldermen, home rule form of government, wherein the Chief of Police is appointed by the City Administrator. The Police Department currently serves over 15,000 permanent residents and 10-12 million visitors annually. The City limits contain approximately 24 square miles and over 200 miles of roadways. The Police Department has 58 sworn officers and 14 non-sworn support personnel. The Department is organized into three divisions that work in concert to serve the community:

· The Patrol Division is comprised of three main shifts. Last year, our officers handled over 37,000 calls for service, including more than 2,500 traffic crashes.

· The Criminal Investigation Division is responsible for follow-up and investigation of all crimes that occur in the City.

· The Operational Support Division consists primarily of community police officers, dispatchers, and records personnel.

When a child is inside an unattended vehicle, their temperature can rise quickly and the situation can become dangerous.

No parent or caregiver thinks this can happen to them, but dozens of children each year are either left behind in a vehicle or become trapped inside.

SPD Releases 2025 Annual Report

Message from SPD Chief Joseph Manning

As the City of Sevierville continues to grow, the Sevierville Police Department is finding ways to work more efficiently to help keep our community, citizens,
and visitors safe. To achieve this, we are employing the best talent, engaging with our community, partnering with local leaders, and equipping our department
with the latest technology to continue providing quality police services.

The Sevierville Police Department strives to recruit and hire officers and staff of diverse backgrounds. From lateral hires of certified officers from both within
and outside Tennessee, to investing in recruits attending the regional police academy, our recruitment team continues to work hard to find the best officers for
our agency.

I am proud to report that our Community Resource Unit (CRU) continues to provide a myriad of quality services to our community on a daily basis. The CRU
continues to be a multi-faceted unit that not only provides quality community resources but also spearheads security at various City functions such as the
Board of Mayor and Aldermen meetings and provides court security for municipal court hearings. CRU is on the front lines of a multitude of community and
special events hosted by the City and others. CRU also provides valuable services to our vulnerable populations, such as partnering with our non-governmental
agencies to deliver food to homebound seniors, working on homeless issues, and dispensing free child car safety seats to those who cannot afford them.

The agency went through a restructuring in 2025, adding a new bureau. The department now consists of the Operations, Support, and the newly organized
Special Operations Bureaus. This revised structure allows for a more streamlined approach to policing and adds important institutional oversight for our
various specialty teams.

The department has invested heavily in new technology, including a state-of-the-art Rapid DNA machine that will quickly identify suspects in hours rather
than weeks. This machine and its technology are offered to our many partnering agencies for their use in solving crimes.

We continue to work with innovative companies to assist our officers in providing a safe community for our citizens and visitors. Looking ahead into 2026, we
have entered into an agreement with BRINC Technology to deploy a Drone as First Responder program. This technology will allow us to have increased
situational awareness and provide better coverage throughout the City.

Although we look to the future for cutting-edge technology, it will never replace the human connection here at SPD. To that end, in 2026 we will offer our first
cadet program. This program will allow men and women, 18 to 21-years old, an opportunity to work alongside department personnel to help them to decide if
law enforcement is the right career choice. Our goal is to recruit future law enforcement officers in our hometown.

As we continue to work on improving our practices, enhancing our training, and utilizing cutting-edge technology, we do it to strengthen our relationships
with our citizens, businesses, and the visitors that come to Sevierville.

Thank you for your continued support.
Chief Joseph S. Manning

SCAM ALERT

We have been informed by the Sevier County Electric System (SCES) of scam calls to customers demanding that payment be made over the phone for past due electric bills. Some of the calls have come from an 800 number, and some customers have reported that the call appears to come from the electric system, indicating the scammers may be "spoofing" the electric system phone number to make it appear to be a legitimate call.

SCES may provide courtesy calls to customers, however they would not demand payment over the phone for past due bills. Before making any payment or providing any personal information over the phone, hang up and call SCES at 865-453-2887.

As with most scams, the scammers will try to create a sense of urgency and fear of repercussions if their demand are not immediately met. Don't fall prey to these scams; instead, hang up and call SCES at 865-453-2887.
