Sam was a longtime member and supporter of our squad in more recent years after he retired from regular operations with us. Our Chairman shared stories tonight of their time responding to calls together and travelling down many TN highways. Our thoughts go out to the family. Fly high, old friend.

Our crew was back at it again, honing the skills that make a difference when every second counts.
This week's focus? Vehicle Extrication Training.
It wasn't just a "walk in the park"—it was a true testament to the dedication of our members:
* Going the Extra Mile: We had members who pulled a full shift at their day jobs and came straight to training without missing a beat.
* Sacrificing the Weekend: Others gave up their well-deserved Saturday off to ensure their skills are sharp and up to date.

🛠️ Always Learning, Always Improving
You might think that after years of service, our veteran members could do this in their sleep. But in this field, complacency is the enemy. Even our most seasoned responders—who have been providing extrication skills for years—attend these sessions to recertify and stay current on the latest vehicle safety technology.

👬It was a great day of teamwork across all ranks. We had Officers attending the training to sharpen their own tactics, while other Officers took the lead as instructors, guiding our newer members through the high-pressure environment of a rescue scene.

We put our rescue equipment to the test, utilizing:
* The Spreader: For creating those crucial "cracks" and moving massive amounts of metal.
* The Combi Tool: The "jack of all trades" that allows us to cut and spread with one powerful device to gain access to trapped victims.

We train because your life depends on it.

🙌 A Huge Thank You!
Special thanks to Carr’s Wrecker Service for providing the vehicles for our training. Without their continued support and the donation of these cars, we wouldn’t have the realistic environment we need to stay mission-ready.

Big shoutout to Logan Baker for County Clerk for stopping by this morning with a delicious breakfast for our team! 🍳🥓

The snow storms a couple weeks back kept us all on our toes, but Logan’s thoughtful gesture reminded us why we do what we do. He wanted to show his appreciation for our hard work in keeping the community safe. We are proud to serve this community, and neighbors like Logan make it all the more rewarding.
Thanks again for the kind gesture.

When the weather hits, our team steps up. ❄️🏃‍♂️
Between Friday 1/30 and early Friday 2/6, our crews responded to a total of 46 calls for service. That’s an average of over 6.5 calls per day, however we saw a massive spike in activity—especially between Friday night and Monday morning that kept us busy.

To ensure we could reach every neighbor—even in the toughest conditions—we deployed RSU416. This specialized unit allowed us to access locations where a standard truck simply couldn't respond.

The Breakdown:
🚗 16 Motor Vehicle Accidents
🤝 28 Public Assistance Calls
🚑 2 EMS Assists
We are proud to serve this community, no matter the conditions.

Huge thanks to other local responders and road crews who worked around the clock to keep the roads clear and our neighbors safe.

🏈 Hey everyone, it’s Super Bowl LX! We know the local bars and breweries are packed today with those "Super Howl" drink specials and craft beers, and we want you to enjoy the game—but we want you to do it responsibly.

Let’s be real for a second: We get it. By halftime, your "Original Designated Driver" might decide the game is "too good" (or the wings are too spicy) and officially ditch their DD duties. Whether your ride flakes or you just realize you've had one too many during the Bad Bunny halftime show, you need a backup plan.

Please don't wing it. Save a taxi number, download a rideshare app, or call a sober friend.

Our Goal for Tonight:
We’d much rather spend our night watching the game at the station than being called out to a scene. We don’t want to use our extrication tools to get you out of your car because of a choice that could have been avoided.

The Big Debate: Seahawks or Patriots? 🦅 vs 🗳️
It’s the rematch a decade in the making!
* Seahawks fans: Are we finally handing the ball to the RB at the 1-yard line this time? 🏃‍♂️💨
* Patriots fans: Can the new-look Pats recreate the magic of 2015? 🏆
Stay safe, stay sober, and let’s make sure the only "crushing" that happens today is a celebratory high-five.
Who are you rooting for? Let us know in the comments! 👇

Busy day for the team!
We had members out in the field today sharpening their skills at two different training sessions out of county:
🌊 Swiftwater Awareness: A huge thanks to Hawkins County Rescue Squad for hosting some of our crew for a day of Swiftwater Awareness training. Understanding the power and mechanics of moving water is vital for keeping our responders safe during flood and river incidents.
📍 SARTopo Training: Meanwhile, other team members spent the day at Church Hill Rescue Squad learning SARTopo techniques. This mapping software is an incredible tool for our tracking team, allowing us to coordinate search grids and plot real-time data with pinpoint accuracy.
We are constantly training to stay mission-ready. Grateful for our neighboring agencies for the collaboration and the high-quality instruction! 🤝💪

A huge shoutout and a heartfelt thank you to the team at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Sevierville! ❄️🍲

Last night, they went above and beyond by providing a delicious, hot dinner for some of our crew at the rescue squad. While not everyone was present for dinner last night, the support was greatly appreciated by the entire team!

We are so incredibly proud of our crew. We’ve had a solid group responding all weekend, including a dedicated team who has been stationed at the building since Friday night. They haven't been back to their own homes or seen their families in days, ensuring that our community stays safe around the clock.

Please remember: our members volunteer. They aren't just "at work"—they are the ones who stepped away from the comfort and warmth of their own homes to help others in need.

Thank you again, Cracker Barrel, for recognizing that hard work and fueling our team. ❤️

Huge shoutout to Buddy's BBQ Sevierville for fueling our crews today! ❄️🍖
While the snow continues to linger across the county, many of our dedicated team members haven't seen the inside of their own homes all weekend. They’ve been out in the cold around the clock to keep our community safe and serviced.
Coming back to a warm, delicious meal from Buddy's was exactly the boost we needed. As the teams come back in they will enjoy a break and a meal at Station 1. We are so grateful for local businesses that step up and support our team and this community when the going gets tough.
Show them some love! Next time you’re thinking about dinner, head over to Buddy's and grab a meal. Let’s support the folks who support our local crews!

❄️ SEVIER COUNTY WEATHER
As daylight fades, conditions will be increasingly hazardous across the county. For the safety of our residents and guests, we are asking everyone to Shelter in Place immediately.

🚗 Road Conditions
Roads throughout Sevier County are currently snow-covered and extremely slick. Attempting to travel tonight puts you, your passengers, and our first responders at significant risk. Please stay off the roads and stay where you are.

📞 Emergency Line Management
Our dispatchers are handling a high volume of calls. We need your help to keep lines open for life-threatening emergencies only.

🏠 What You Should Do Now
* Conserve Resources: Manage your food, water, and heating supplies carefully.
* Stay Warm: Close off unused rooms and dress in layers.
* Check on Neighbors: If safe to do so via phone or text, check in on those nearby.

Stay safe, stay warm, and stay off the roads.

❄️ The Snow is Here! ❄️

It’s officially a winter wonderland out there, but the roads are getting tricky fast. If you’re already behind the wheel, please take your time, keep your distance, and get home safely.

Once you’re back at home, do yourself a favor: stay home. Grab the blankets, start the kettle, and enjoy the view from the warm side of the window. ☕️🧣
Stay Safe & Cozy:
* Check on neighbors: Especially those who might need help clearing a path tomorrow.
* Keep the heat in: Close curtains and keep internal doors shut.
* Charge up: Make sure your devices are powered in case of local outages overnight.
