Explore and award winning museum and art gallery, hiking trails, ATV trails, camping, and thousands of petroglyphs all in one place.

Discover artifacts, petroglyphs, and pictographs left behind by the Fremont Indians. During construction of Interstate 70, the largest known Fremont Indian village was uncovered. This museum preserves treasures from the site, including pottery, baskets, and arrowheads. Spend a day at the museum, ride your ATV from in-park trailheads, and then camp at the Castle Rock or Sam Stowe Campgrounds. While

Looking for ancient rock art around Fremont Indian State Park? 🗿✨

Can you spot all 9 of these incredible petroglyphs and pictographs on your next vist to the park? 🥾

This park is home to one of the largest collections of Fremont culture rock art in the world. From the famous "Cave of a Hundred Hands" to detailed geometric patterns and bighorn sheep, each carving and drawing tells a story left behind over 1,000 years ago.

Quick Tips for Rock Art Hunting:
Look Up: Many designs are high on the canyon walls.
Bring Binoculars: Spot the faint or distant pictographs easily.
Check the Light: Morning and late afternoon sun make carvings pop.
Respect the Past: Never touch the rock art or chalk the designs.

🌲✨ Ready to see the desert through a whole new lens?
Join us at Fremont Indian State Park and Museum for an unforgettable weekend of history, hiking, and hands-on art!

Part of National Great Outdoors Month, these two exclusive programs will completely change the way you look at Clear Creek Canyon.

🗓️ Friday, June 12: Journey Through an Archaeologist’s Eyes
Step into the past with our guides on an immersive trek. You will learn exactly how the park was created and even get the rare opportunity to see and touch actual ancient artifacts!

🗓️ Saturday, June 13: Drum Making Workshop
Find your rhythm with local Utah artist Savannah Fox! She will guide you step-by-step through the process of hand-crafting your very own authentic 10-inch hide medicine drum. You’ll leave with a beautiful, one-of-a-kind piece and a big smile.

Registration is required for both events and closes 24 hours before each program. Spaces are strictly limited to keep the experiences personal.

It's National Great Outdoors Month and we have some great programs that will help you get outdoors in June.

Highlights for this month:

Journey Through an Archaeologists Eyes (12th and 25th): This is our new experience where you will get to see the park in a whole new way. You will get the chance to learn about how the park was created and have the opportunity to see and touch actual ancient artifacts.

Drum Workshops (13th & 27th): Our ever popular and fun drum workshops will continue through the summer. Savannah a local artist will walk you through the process as you create your very own 10 inch drum.

Solstice Snapshots (20th): Help us celebrate the summer solstice by joining us for this fun and informative workshop. During this workshop you will have the chance to look at the sun through a solar telescope or our solar binoculars. We will also have nature journals for you to keep and record the things you see.

Dark Sky Programs: Do not require registration

Scorpion Quest (18th): Join us as we teach you about scorpions and then give you an opportunity to go out and search for them. These quests take part on a dirt and rock trails so make sure to bring closed toe shoes. UV lights will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own.

Full Moon Hike (27th): Come walk under the light of the full moon and learn more about the moon, nocturnal life, and dark sky efforts. This is a half mile hike that goes on a rock and dirt trail so make sure you come prepared.

It's that time of year again when we share the roads, trails, and outdoors with more of our reptile friends.

This young rattlesnake was out looking for some shade and a ride. (We do not recommend giving these guys a ride of any kind.) While these rattlesnakes are not known for being aggressive we do ask everyone to be cautious as you are out hiking. If you see a snake give it plenty of room, and make sure all pets are on leash!! Stay on the trail as they usually like hanging out in rocky and hill type areas.

The Great Basin Rattlesnakes are known for sitting and waiting for prey. They prefer to eat rodents, lizards, and eggs from birds. They are known for the varying coloration and their triangle shaped heads.

This upcoming weekend we have some really amazing programs available at the park.

Friday May 29th - Join us as we take you on a memorable Journey Through an Archaeologists Eyes. This is our brand new experience and this is the first time we are offering it to the public. So come and learn about how archaeologists, locals, and indigenous people have shaped and created our state park! If you love history, archaeology, or just being outdoors then you are going to love this experience. Registration is required and closes 24 hours before the program. Saturday May 30th - Savannah Fox, a local Utah artist, will be running another great drum workshop where participants will be able to make their own 10 inch drum!! Saturday May 30th - A full moon hike is always a good time but how many times do you get to hike under the light of a blue moon? Come learn more about that often used phrase "once in a blue moon". No registration is required, and this event is free with your purchase of a day-use pass, Utah State Parks pass, or you paid for camping in the park.

🦂✨ THEY’RE BACK! Are you ready to see the desert light up after dark?
Join us for our very first Stars and Scorpions program of the season this Memorial Day weekend!
We are trading standard flashlights for UV blacklights to hunt for glowing desert arachnids and explore our incredible dark skies.
📅 When: Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 9:00 PM.📍
Where: Meet at our brand-new outdoor amphitheater.
🎟️ Cost: Free with a $10 standard Day-Use vehicle fee or Utah State Park Annual Pass (Free for Fremont campers).
🔦 Details: The night kicks off with a short, ranger-led presentation, then, we'll head out with UV blacklights to spot scorpions!
No registration is required. UV blacklights will be provided, but feel free to bring your own if you have them! Remember high desert nights get chilly, so make sure to layer up.

While our Museum continues to be closed for renovation we are excited to have the NEW Utah Buffalo Soldiers exhibit at our park for the summer!!
Come out and learn about this chapter in our Utah history while it's here! The exhibit will be leaving at the end of July.
