When you visit our stores and the price has gone up since last time, it wasn’t us! The Motor Vehicle Administration fees and sales tax on automobiles in Maryland are paying for the state's budget.

Wes Moore refuses to be fiscally responsible and make tough decisions on spending cuts, so he is balancing his FY26 budget with your wallet. This year, he is raising $1.68 Billion with new taxes and tax increases, including:
- $497 Million in new sales taxes on B2B Data and IT services
- $367 Million in capital gains tax increases
- $344 Million from income tax increases
- $158 Million from increasing the vehicle sales tax (excise tax) from 6% to 6.8%
- $80 Million from DOUBLING vehicle title fees
- $51 Million from increasing vehicle registration fees
- $47 Million from new tax on short-term vehicle rentals
- $39 Million from raising sales tax on cannabis
- $32 Million from tax hike on sports betting
- $21 Million from eliminating some sales tax exemptions
- $9 Million from increased fees for historical vehicle plates
- $9 Million from new tax on vending machine purchases
