K-63 Construction Zone South of K-71 (Bern Highway) will be CLOSED to thru traffic.
Date: Monday – August 24, 2026
Time: 7 pm – Midnight
KDOT will be closing the construction zone to repair the lane that is in use. There will be no through traffic and no detour posted. There should be signage for local traffic to use an alternate route. Please plan accordingly!

Jail Booking/Release:
• Joshua Jeanneret, 39, Centralia was arrested by NMSO on 8-17-2026 on charges of Domestic Battery and Criminal Damage to Property. Jeanneret was released on 08-18-2026 on a $2500 cash bond. Court is set for 9-29-2026 at 9:30a.m.
Crash Reports:
• On 7-30-2026 at 9:08 p.m. Kyle Kramer, 28, Seneca was traveling eastbound on US 36 Highway 0.1 mile West of H Road with a 2001 Case IH tractor and wagon. Meanwhile Edward Lueb, 83, Seneca was also eastbound on US 36 Highway in a 2009 GMC Acadia. The two collided. Over $1000 damage.
• On 8-9-2026 at 1:43 a.m. Forrest Gaston II, 43, Morrill was traveling northbound on W Road 291 feet North of 48th Road when he lost control causing his vehicle to leave the roadway. Gaston was driving a 2005 Kawasaki ATV. Gaston was transported to Stormont Vail with injuries from the accident where he later passed away. Over $1000 damage.

For those of you who travel north on K-63, please take note!

⛔Short-term closure scheduled on K-63 bridge in Nemaha Co.

KDOT will temporarily close the K-63 bridge over Turkey Creek in Nemaha County on Monday, Aug. 24, for repair work on the north bridge approach.

The bridge will close at 7 p.m. and is expected to reopen by midnight, conditions permitting.

No detours will be posted, and motorists will need to use alternate routes.

KDOT urges motorists to stay alert, follow posted signs and refrain from hand-held mobile device use in all active work zones. For current road conditions, visit KanDrive.gov or call 511. For updates on highway projects in northeast Kansas, visit ksdot.gov/NortheastNews.

Jail Booking/Release:
• Oscar D. Montenegro Herrera, 33, Bern, KS was arrested on 8-10-2026 by NMSO for the offenses of Aggravated Assault and Criminal Damage to Property. Montenegro Herrera was released to the custody of the Department of Homeland Security on 8-11-2026.
• Shane W. Roland, 38, Centralia was arrested on 8-9-2026 by NMSO on a Kickapoo Tribal Warrant for Failure to Appear. He was released on $124 cash bond on 8-9-2026 with a court date of 8-24-2026 at 10 a.m.
• Coleton Delong, 19, Maple Hill was released on 8-12-2026 on time served.
• Ervin Mitchell, 50, Soldier was released on 8-11-2026 on a $5000 Own Recognizance bond. Court is set for 8-18-206 at 2:15p.m.
• Francisco Romero Morales, 20, Manhattan was arrested by NMSO on 8-11-2026 on charges of Driving While Suspended. He was released on the same day on a $250 cash bond. Court is set for 9-15-2026 at 9:30a.m.
Crash Reports:
• On 8-4-2026 at 5:46a.m. Brock Alverson, 31, Centralia was traveling eastbound on K9 Highway 0.2 miles East of G Road when he struck a deer. Alverson was driving a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado. Over $1000 damage.
• On 8-4-2026 at 6:03a.m. Kari Burden, 49, Wetmore was traveling north on Q Road 0.2 miles South of 80th Road when she struck a deer. Burden was driving a 2024 Ford Maverick. Over $1000 damage.

Incident Responses:
• On 8-08-2026 NMSO took a report of theft by deception in Seneca. Value of loss is $404.
