Buckle Up, South Carolina! Every trip. Every time. Today through June 2, CUPD officers will join officers from all across the state for a safety enforcement campaign, actively looking for seat belt violations and child restraint usage.

Always wear your seat belt. It could save your life.

Additionally, SC law requires every driver to properly secure every child under 8 years old in the vehicle in an appropriate-sized child passenger restraint system, commonly referred to as a car seat. For all children under the age of 13, the back seat is the safest place for them to ride.

Last week, members of Clemson University Public Safety attended the Gold Medal Gala, a formal celebration that brings together law enforcement, local business leaders and Special Olympics athletes to support the Law Enforcement Torch Run’s mission of inclusion and empowerment.

Public Safety and its campus and local partners annually host the Clemson Polar Plunge in support of Special Olympics South Carolina and the Law Enforcement Torch Run. We're proud of the work of our staff to help support the work of these great organizations.

Today is National Peace Officers Memorial Day, which serves as a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by law enforcement officers across our nation - those who have given their lives in the line of duty to protect and serve their communities.

We pause to remember them, to honor their legacy, and to ensure their commitment is never forgotten. In memory of the fallen officers and to remind their families that we will never forget, all CUPD officers were authorized to drape their badges this week.
