Traffic Advisory

On Friday, Sept. 11, Hwy 93 will be closed from Cherry Rd to Williamson Rd beginning at 5:45 p.m. for the First Friday Parade.

Hwy 93 will reopen following the conclusion of the parade.

Last Saturday, during MADD SC's Saturation Saturday, CUPD, along with our partners from Oconee County Sheriff's Office, Clemson City Police Department and South Carolina Highway Patrol, conducted a traffic checkpoint on Highway 93 near the Snow Family Outdoor Fitness and Wellness Complex.

The checkpoint resulted in 434 vehicle contacts, which included one DUI arrest with the driver registering a 0.12 BAC.

Additionally, CUPD's saturation patrol resulted in approximately 28 traffic stops for various violations, including speeding, disregarding stop signs, disregarding traffic control devices, defective equipment and an improper lane change.

CUPD has earned the Sexual Assault Forensic Excellence (SAFE) Designation, becoming the first law enforcement agency in Pickens County to receive the recognition.

CUPD joins the College of Charleston Department of Public Safety as the only other university law enforcement agency to receive the designation.

The program recognizes hospitals, law enforcement agencies, EMS agencies, fire departments and advocacy centers that are committed to providing trauma-informed, survivor-centered care for victims of sexual assault, recognizing the important role that first responders play in supporting victims during traumatic situations.

CUPD first law enforcement agency in Pickens County to earn the recognition.

Just one week until the inaugural Tigers Meal Pack for 9/11 Day! Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to help pack meals!

We're excited to announce the inaugural Tigers Meal Pack for 9/11 Day event on Thursday, Sept. 10!

Volunteers will pack nutritious, shelf-stable meals and distribute them to local food banks and food pantries to serve local families and individuals in need.

The event provides the University and local community with an opportunity to volunteer and serve in observance of the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Due to a motor vehicle collision, the bridge on West Cherry Rd is currently one lane. Expect delays and seek alternative routes.

Tomorrow is Saturation Saturday. CUPD is joining MADD South Carolina and law enforcement agencies throughout the state to fight impaired driving ahead of Labor Day weekend.

CUPD will increase impaired-driving traffic safety enforcement efforts tomorrow, including conducting high-visibility saturation patrols, to save lives and prevent injuries.
