🐾 With the help of Chris Knapp from Stever’s Garage, we were able to rescue this adventurous little kitten after it became stuck in the engine compartment of a vehicle. Once safely freed, the kitten decided it wasn’t quite ready to be caught and ran straight into the engine compartment of a second vehicle!

After a little more teamwork and patience, the kitten was safely rescued and is doing well. A huge thank you to Chris for lending a hand and helping ensure this furry friend had a happy ending. 🐱❤️

⚠️ Traffic Advisory ⚠️

We are aware that the traffic signal at the intersection of Fall Street and Rumsey Street is not cycling properly. Notifications have been made, and efforts are underway to have the issue corrected as soon as possible.

At this time, motorists are encouraged to avoid approaching the intersection from the Veterans Bridge direction, as the signal is cycling too quickly for traffic coming off the bridge, causing significant backups.

Please use alternate routes if possible and allow for extra travel time. We appreciate your patience while this issue is being addressed.

🐾 A parked car can become deadly for pets in minutes.

Even on a mild day, the temperature inside a vehicle can rise by 20°F in just 10 minutes and nearly 50°F within an hour.

These extreme temperatures can quickly lead to heatstroke and other life-threatening emergencies.

This National Pet Preparedness Month, remember: never leave pets unattended in a vehicle.

When in doubt, leave them at home.

The members of the Seneca Falls Police Department are deeply saddened by the passing of retired Sergeant Dean E. Zettlemoyer.

Sergeant Zettlemoyer dedicated 26 years of his life to protecting and serving the Seneca Falls community before retiring in 2010. Throughout his career, he exemplified professionalism, dedication, and a commitment to public service, leaving a lasting impact on both the department and the community he proudly served.

The Seneca Falls Police Department extends our heartfelt condolences to Sergeant Zettlemoyer’s family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. His legacy of service will not be forgotten.

Pictured below are two special moments from Sergeant Zettlemoyer’s law enforcement career: his promotion to Sergeant, and the proud moment he pinned the badge on his son, Officer Colin Zettlemoyer, at his graduation from the Police Academy—a testament to a family dedicated to serving others.

Rest in peace, Sergeant Zettlemoyer. Thank you for your years of service and sacrifice. We have the watch from here. 🚔💙

⚠️ Traffic Advisory ⚠️

Please use caution when traveling on E. Bayard Street between Jay Street and Stevenson Street due to an earlier disabled vehicle that leaked fluids onto the roadway.

The affected area has been treated with Speedy Dry to absorb and clean up the spill. Motorists should reduce speed and use extra caution, as the roadway surface may remain slippery until the material is fully removed.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation. Drive safely. 🚔

🚲🛴🛹 Helmet Safety Citations Are Back This Summer! 🛹🛴🚲

From June 28th through September 5th, Seneca Falls Police Department officers will be on the lookout for kids making safe choices while biking, skateboarding, roller skating, or riding scooters—and we'll be handing out **Helmet Safety Citations** as a reward for doing the right thing!

🎉 **What's a Helmet Safety Citation?**
It's a positive citation that can be redeemed for a small prize, thanks to the generosity of our local business partners. Think of it as our way of saying "thank you" for staying safe!

🚴 **Why Helmets Matter:**
• New York State law requires all children under 14 years old to wear a helmet while riding a bicycle or using similar wheeled devices.
• Approximately 54 New Yorkers lose their lives in bicycle crashes each year, and many were not wearing helmets.
• According to the New York State Department of Health, helmets can reduce the risk of traumatic brain injury by up to 88%.
• With the increasing popularity of e-bikes and scooters, wearing a helmet is more important than ever.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 **Parents, We Need Your Help!**
Please help us encourage safe riding habits by making sure helmets fit properly and are worn every ride. A properly fitted helmet is one of the simplest and most effective ways to help prevent serious injuries.

🏢 **Interested in Becoming a Sponsor?**
We are always looking for local businesses that would like to partner with us. Your support helps us encourage safe habits and build positive relationships with the youth in our community. If you're interested in participating, please contact the Seneca Falls Police Department for more information.

So kids, buckle that helmet, ride safely, and keep an eye out for our officers! Not only are you protecting yourself, but you might also earn a cool reward.

Let's make this another safe, fun, and helmet-smart summer! 🌞🚲🛴🛹

⚾️ It was a great evening to be at the ball field! Tonight, Sergeant Maclean stopped by to visit the Seneca Falls Police Benevolent Association Minors Softball Little League team.

The SFPBA team is coached by our very own Officer Darling and Seneca Falls Town Board Councilwoman Crane. We are proud to support our local youth athletes and appreciate the dedication of our coaches, volunteers, and families who make these programs possible.

Good luck to the team this season—we hope you have fun, work hard, and make great memories along the way! 🥎💙🖤
