The City of Seminole is proud to have recently received $5,000 in reimbursement through Preferred Governmental Insurance Trust’s (PGIT) Preferred Training Incentive Program (TIPS). PGIT is the City’s insurance carrier, and their Preferred TIPS Program allows members to apply for a matching incentive of up to $5,000 per coverage year. This program provides reimbursement for the purchase of safety-related items to help keep the public and city employees safe. Some of the expenses reimbursement through the grant included 22.25 yards of concrete for sidewalk repairs, Confined Space Entry training, portable eye wash kits, high visibility safety vests, and high visibility rain suits.
Thanks PGIT for helping to keep our community safe.

Pinellas County Mast Arm Installation - Park and Seminole Blvds
The project that you see at Park and Seminole Blvds is to install arm masts for the traffic signals. The tentative project completion date is July 25, 2026, however, they have encountered unforeseen underground utility conflicts and are working on rectifying between their contractor and the utility companies. The westbound curb lane on Park Blvd has been closed from Culvers to the intersection to allow crews to remobilize in preparation of the proposed drill shaft and mast arm installation.

If you see work being done on traffic lights around Pinellas County, it’s to make them stronger during storm season.

Pinellas County Utilities Sewer Main Repair Project - 119th Street

According to PCU, the sewer break isn’t causing any backups due to their contractor setting up bypass pumps to keep things moving. Where the break has occurred, there are currently utility conflicts with power and communication lines that they are working with the providers to have relocated so their contractor can get into the area to make the repair. Currently, they do not have a timeline as they’re waiting for outside entities to make those relocations. Once that is done, they’ll be able to assess the extent of the damage.

Did you know that this is National Public Works Week?
Public Works consists of (15) full-time and (2) part-time employees making up (4) divisions, Streets and Stormwater, Parks and Grounds, Facilities and Administration.
Responsibilities include:

The Streets and Stormwater Team maintain stormwater infrastructure such as underground pipes, catch basins and drainage inlets/outlets. This team also performs roadway repairs, sidewalk repairs, street signs, and trimming right-of-way trees for roadway clearance.

The Parks and Grounds Team maintains city parks, city properties, ditches, and rights-of-way along with playground maintenance and pond maintenance.

The Facilities Team maintains all city buildings, including four fire stations, along with any electrical issues at city parks.

The Administration Team is responsible for budgeting, contract management, grant administration, and expenditure tracking.

If you see the crews out and about, give them a wave when you see them out working hard.

In March 2026, Seminole's Tree Advisory Committee approved the request to remove (3) diseased Laurel Oaks at Fire Station 31. The committee recommended planting (2) Live Oaks with Azaleas planted at the base of each tree. Seminole's Parks and Grounds Division installed root barriers prior to planting the Live Oaks to help redirect roots from growing towards the fire station.
