9/11/2026- The Gaines County Sheriff’s Office has received several calls regarding a jury summons scam.

Scammers are calling residents claiming they have missed jury duty and may face arrest or other penalties unless they pay money or provide personal information.

Do not send money or provide personal information over the phone. If you receive a suspicious call regarding jury duty, hang up.

You may have noticed a higher than usual presence of Gaines County Deputies and Texas DPS Troopers conducting traffic stops throughout Gaines County this Labor Day weekend.

This was part of a joint traffic safety campaign focused on keeping our roads safe and protecting everyone traveling through our community.

Together, the Gaines County Sheriff’s Office and Texas DPS conducted 253 traffic stops and made 10 arrests.

I appreciate our Deputies and Texas DPS Troopers for putting in the extra work this holiday weekend. Most importantly, thank you to the citizens who did their part by slowing down, buckling up, and driving responsibly.

When one of our own needs help, our community answers the call. ❤️‍🔥

David Condarco is a dedicated local first responder who proudly serves our community through the Seminole Fire Department and Seminole EMT Volunteer Association. David is currently hospitalized due to complications from a recent illness and is facing a long road to recovery.

David has spent countless hours answering the call and being there for others in their time of need. Now it’s our turn to be there for him and his family.
