The opposition has printed and posted “unanswered questions” everywhere. We’re here to answer them ALL for you.
“Does the City Council and administration believe a bowling alley with a bar is more important to the youth community than a swimming pool or rebuilt Boomtown Playground?”
⁃ The City Council has prioritized a Family Entertainment Center over a swimming pool and a rebuilt Boomtown playground. The city has plans to build a pool and water park, for which they have reserved $100,000. The City Council also voted to reserve $150,000 to assist the Boomtown Committee in the renovation of the park. The City Council has moved on a Family Entertainment Center before a swimming pool because the youth asked for this first.
“If tax proposals pass on January 10th, will the building of the $8 million Family Entertainment Center be guaranteed?”
⁃ Yes.
“Has the Youth Council (or City officials) explored private ownership or operation of the proposed Entertainment Center?”
⁃ Yes. The City has explored private ownership since the previous bowling alley burned decades ago.
“Would a banker approve the financial plan behind the building and operating of the proposed Family Entertainment Center?”
⁃ Who knows? Would a bank be behind Boomtown playground, the Reynold’s Wellness Center, a cemetery, or a splashpad? You’re asking about a municipality. Cities are designed to do things that banks wouldn’t do.
“Was a feasibility study for this proposed business ever conducted?”
⁃ Yes.
“Is the Seminole Youth Council being manipulated to allow the City to get control of the money that they will not be bound to use for a Family Entertainment Center?”
⁃ For those who have questions about whether this youth council is being manipulated, we are challenging you to watch the YouTube video where the Youth Council, who had no relation to City Council members, presented the Family Entertainment Center to the City Council. The Youth Council formulated the idea by themselves and presented it to City Council. We’ll even provide you with the link to the May 2021 City Council meeting where they did the presentation: https://youtu.be/CgZcMizm32o
“Who paid for the architectural drawings for the proposed $8 million Family Entertainment Center?”
⁃ Seminole Community Foundation. The second year Youth Council requested for funding for the design.
“Who is paying for advertising supporting this campaign in the newspaper?”
⁃ The Friends of the Family Entertainment Center are paying for advertisements through private donations. Who is paying for the advertisements in the newspaper for the opposition?
