Today, the City of Selma paused to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the extraordinary courage, sacrifice, and service demonstrated by first responders and everyday Americans on that day and in the years that followed.

We were honored to stand alongside our Selma first responders, community leaders, AmeriCorps members, veterans, and residents for a moment of reflection and remembrance.

Twenty-five years later, we remember not only the tragedy of September 11, but also the strength and unity that brought our nation together.

To those who answered the call to serve then—and to the men and women who continue to protect and serve our communities today—we thank you.

We remember the lives. We honor the heroes. We will never forget.

It’s Lunchtime Selma

Yesterday was a great day in Downtown Selma as we celebrated the official ribbon cutting of Smokin Gun Cafe, located at 1005 Water Avenue! We were excited to welcome this new business to our downtown community offering a unique space right in the heart of Selma.

Every new business represents another investment in our city, another reason to visit downtown, and another opportunity to support local entrepreneurs.

Congratulations to the Smokin Gun Cafe team and welcome to Downtown Selma!

The City of Selma is sharing the Mayor’s Report and agenda for The City Council Meeting, Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 6:30 p.m.

The report includes several important resolutions, appointments, proposed agreements, community projects, and other items that will be presented for the Council’s consideration.

We encourage all citizens to review the Mayor’s Report and stay informed about the work being done to move our city forward.
