2nd Annual Fishing With the Fuzz Returns to East Selma!

The City of Selma is excited to announce the return of our 2nd Annual Fishing With the Fuzz, a community policing event designed to bring families, youth, and law enforcement together in a positive and welcoming environment.

Last year’s event was a tremendous success, creating opportunities for meaningful conversations, new friendships, and lasting memories along the banks of the East Selma Community Pond.

This year, we’re looking forward to making the event even bigger and better through the partnership with Justin Rudolph and Councilman Michael Johnson’s Reel It In With Fathers & Friends to expand the event and continue strengthening the bonds between community members, local leaders, and public safety professionals.

This is more than a fishing event. It’s an opportunity to demonstrate the power of fathers and police through fellowship and fun.

Join us for a day of fishing, family activities, and community connection as we work together to build stronger relationships and a stronger Selma.

During our Public Safety Committee meeting, citizens expressed concerns regarding numerous street lights throughout the community that are either completely out, flickering, or providing inadequate lighting.

To assist with reporting and expediting repairs, residents are encouraged:

➡️ Post the 4-digit pole number located on the Alabama Power utility pole
➡️ Post the Intersection Street Names nearest the affected street light.

The City appreciates the public’s assistance in reporting these issues as we work together to improve visibility, safety, and quality of life throughout our neighborhoods.

Selma has officially been named a Main Street Alabama Designated Community!

This designation places Selma among an elite group of communities across Alabama recognized for their commitment to downtown revitalization, economic development, historic preservation, and community engagement.

This achievement is the result of countless hours of work by the Selma Redevelopment Authority, City staff, community partners, business owners, and citizens who believe in the future of our downtown.

The work is just beginning, but this designation opens the door to new resources, partnerships, and opportunities to help us continue rebuilding and revitalizing downtown Selma.

Together, we are creating momentum. Together, we are moving Selma forward.
