đź’™ CULTURE-CHANGING MOMENT OF THE WEEK đź’›
Topic: USE WHAT YOU HAVE
This week, our young men learned an important lesson: You can’t always depend on what has always worked. Sometimes, you have to find another way.
We divided the boys into teams for 5-on-5 basketball, but there was a twist: their dominant shooting hand had to stay in their pocket. They had to dribble, pass, and shoot using only their non-dominant hand.
We had six teams compete and not one team scored a basket!
At first, you might look at that and say the activity was unsuccessful. But it was actually the complete opposite.
We succeeded because we learned.
The boys quickly discovered how difficult life can become when the things you normally rely on are suddenly unavailable. Their usual shooting form didn’t work. Their normal moves weren’t available. Their comfort zone was gone.
And sometimes, life works the exact same way.
There will be moments when the resources you depended on aren’t available. The people you counted on may not be there. The plan that worked yesterday may not work tomorrow.
When that happens, USE WHAT YOU HAVE.
Adjust. Adapt. Get creative. Think outside the box. Find another way.
🏀 The goal wasn’t to make the basket. The goal was to learn what to do when making the basket becomes difficult.
Life Lesson:
When the normal way no longer works, don’t quit—adjust.
We also would like to thank our community partners from New Sister Springs for coming and sharing.
