Don’t over do it today if working outside.

New day, same forecast 🥵 A front is approaching Indiana! 👇🏼

Heat index values will reach well above 100 degrees today, sometimes above 110 degrees in rural areas inside the purple zones.

Cooler air will move in slowly from north to south through Saturday. The front will also spark some storms the next few days as well.

More scattered storms are possible Friday and Saturday. Everyone will have a different timing and chance level. Cooler air should definitely be here for Sunday and Monday of your Labor Day Weekend. 🙌🏼

Liberty - Perry Schools will be closed tomorrow, Friday, August 14, due to the continued impact of the catastrophic rainfall and flooding experienced throughout our communities.

There will be no e-learning tomorrow. We want to give our families and staff the time they need to take care of themselves, their homes, and one another.

This has certainly been an incredibly strange and challenging start to the 2026–2027 school year. While this is not how any of us envisioned beginning the year, we are looking forward to turning the page and starting on a new foot Monday morning. We cannot wait to get our students back in our buildings and get this school year truly underway!

Until then, please continue to keep our neighbors and all those impacted by the flooding in your thoughts and prayers.

SCHOOL CANCELLATION | THURSDAY, AUGUST 13

Liberty Perry Schools will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, August 13, due to the catastrophic rainfall and flooding experienced throughout our communities.

There will be no e-learning tomorrow. We simply want our students, staff, and families to focus on taking care of themselves and one another.

As our communities begin to assess the impact of this historic rainfall, please keep our neighbors and all those affected in your thoughts and prayers.

EARLY DISMISSAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Due to the catastrophic rainfall our area has received and additional heavy rain anticipated today, Liberty Perry Schools will dismiss early.

All students will be provided the opportunity to eat lunch before dismissal begins.

Dismissal Schedule:

Selma Elementary: Buses dismiss at 12:45 p.m.
Selma Middle School & Wapahani High School: Buses dismiss at 1:00 p.m.
Student drivers and parent pickups: May begin at 1:00 p.m., once buses are on the road.

Our goal is to have all students home and buses off the roads by approximately 2:15 p.m.

Students that need to be picked up early will be excused from any attendance issues. Students who need to remain at school will continue to be supervised until families are able to arrange pickup.

Thank you to our families for your understanding and flexibility. Please stay safe on the roads today.

Thursday evening is looking like another great night to get out and join us at the Selma Bluebird Days!

Wow, what a great turnout for Wednesday night!

Thursday evening will definitely be another great evening. More good food, Jansen Blevins on stage under the pavilion, and Jessop Amusements offering discounted ride wristbands for buddy ride night.

Grab the family, grab some friends, come on out and support the Lions and all the vendors!
