Bittersweet day. One of our most tenured officers is retiring.

Sgt. Shane Rominger has called it a career, bringing to a close 25 years of loyal and dedicated service to the citizens of Selma.

Sgt. Rominger began his career with the Selma Police Department in September 2001. Over the years, he has served the department and our community as a Patrolman, Patrol Corporal, Patrol Sergeant, Lieutenant, and, most recently, Code Compliance Officer.

Shane is known for his willingness to help anyone in need and for his extensive knowledge of Texas law and city codes. He is a leader, a hard worker, and, above all, someone with a genuine servant’s heart. Time and time again, he has demonstrated his dedication to public safety through compassion, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to doing what is right.

Beyond the badge and the titles, Shane is a true and loyal friend. His character, work ethic, and commitment to serving others have made a lasting impact on the Selma Police Department, the people he has served, and those he has served with. He is a great example of our department’s core values: Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Dedication, and Excellence.

Happy retirement, old friend. Godspeed, Shane. Thank you for 25 years of service, sacrifice, and friendship.
