Week 4 at School of Discovery was truly one for the books! 📚✨

Every week, we love seeing our scholars diving into their learning and bringing so much energy to our classrooms!

We had an incredible time at our PBIS/Attendance Kickoff! A huge shoutout to our amazing parents for helping our scholars show their spirit during our dress-up days, and a massive thank you to the Hope Dealers for bringing the fire to our pep rally! 📣🔥

STEAM Fridays continue to be a highlight of our week! Our elective teachers did a phenomenal job keeping our scholars engaged, and we were so lucky to have a special visit from NASA Outreach for an out-of-this-world Mars Rover presentation! 🚀🪐

To top it all off, we wrapped up the week with our first staff event of the year—a Game Day Tailgate Party! It was the perfect way to celebrate our team. 🎉🏈

We’re so proud of our scholars and staff for an amazing week. Let’s keep this momentum going!

The School of Discovery is proud to join WAKA Action 8 News’ and the Heart of Alabama Food Bank’s Breakfast Stack Challenge during Hunger Action Month! We encourage all families to donate shelf-stable breakfast food items, such as cereal and oatmeal! Thank you to our amazing 6th grade teacher, Mrs. Jasmine Pritchett, for leading our school in this community service project effort!

Weeks 2 and 3 have been a whirlwind of growth at the School of Discovery! 🚀

Our entire school family is diving deep into standards-based learning. Our 5th graders are mastering the volume of rectangular prisms and crafting compelling personal narratives, while our 6th-grade math learners are busy modeling and creating ratios. In ELA, our students are sharpening their analytical skills by determining the plot and setting of their favorite stories.

Our STEAM electives are in full swing, and the energy in the building every Friday is electric as students eagerly anticipate their elective sessions! Behind the scenes, our faculty and staff are committed to excellence, meeting consistently for our "Discovery Collaboration Time" (PLCs) every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday to ensure we are best serving our scholars.

Everything we do this nine weeks is inspired by our overarching theme, Hidden Figures, as we embody our core values of Heritage, Equity, Agency, Love, and Safety (HEALS).
