Today, the work begins.

Today, 60 men and women of the 90th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy reported to the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, taking the first step toward earning the title of Indiana State Trooper.

The road ahead is long and demanding—but it’s one every trooper before them has walked. To mark the beginning, troopers from each district gathered to welcome the recruits and their families for Blue Sunday, a reminder that no one wears this badge alone.

Three of these recruits have their sights set on the Sellersburg Post. We’re proud to count them among the class, and we wish all 60 the very best as the journey begins.

Campbellsburg, Kentucky Man Arrested on Sexual Misconduct with a Minor Charges

CLARKSVILLE, Ind. — Indiana State Police troopers arrested a Kentucky man Thursday morning on felony charges related to alleged s*xual contact involving a juvenile.

On May 6, 2026, the Indiana State Police opened an investigation after the Indiana Department of Child Services reported possible s*xual contact between an adult and a juvenile. Detective Clay Boley of the ISP Sellersburg Post initiated the investigation and conducted several additional interviews. During the investigation, Detective Boley learned the incident was alleged to have occurred in October 2025 in Clark County, Indiana.

As a result of the investigation, and after Detective Boley submitted all information to the Clark County Prosecutor’s Office for review, the Clark Circuit Court issued an arrest warrant for Kyle Bradley Sonner, 22, of Campbellsburg, Kentucky, charging him with two counts of Sexual Misconduct with a Minor, each a Level 4 Felony.

On the morning of May 28, 2026, Detective Boley and Senior Trooper Nick Yeager located Sonner in Clarksville, Indiana, and took him into custody without incident.

Sonner was transported to the Clark County Jail, where he is being held pending his initial court appearance.

A mug photo was not available at the time of this news release.

Today, the Indiana State Police – Sellersburg Post held our annual Memorial Service to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the citizens of Indiana.

We were joined by Indiana State Police Superintendent Anthony Scott, members of the executive staff, troopers, detectives, and personnel from the Sellersburg Post as we came together to pay tribute to those who gave their lives in the line of duty. Their courage, commitment, and selfless service will never be forgotten.

To the families and loved ones of our fallen heroes—your sacrifice is remembered as well, and we stand with you.
We honor them today, and every day.

Gone but never forgotten.

Courage. Commitment. Character.

Human Trafficking Awareness Initiative for the Upcoming International Men's Football/Soccer Competition

Indiana State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division is partnering with the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) for CVSA’s Human Trafficking Awareness Initiative. This is an additional human trafficking awareness initiative to remind the commercial motor vehicle industry that human trafficking is a significant concern surrounding major events – such as the upcoming football/soccer competition.

During this human trafficking initiative ISP’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement units will have conversations with the CMV drivers they encounter during CMV Roadside Inspections. They will also pass out materials from TAT (Formerly Truckers Against Trafficking). This additional CVSA Human Trafficking Awareness Initiative will be conducted across North America June 1 – 5, 2026.

Human trafficking is a significant concern surrounding major events due to the massive influx of visitors, increased demand for hospitality, and strained local resources and personnel. Such a large-scale special event may increase the demand for commercial s*x, which could increase s*x trafficking, and vulnerable workers in certain industries may suffer from labor trafficking during the preparation and production of the event.

Commercial motor vehicle drivers are the eyes and ears of America, and very often they are in places where human trafficking may occur. In the truck stop parking lots, rest area parking lots, or in commercial locations that could be using labor trafficking victims as part of their work force. Over 40% of Human Trafficking cases reported by truck drivers have involved victims that were minors.

The Human Trafficking Awareness Initiative is part of CVSA’s Human Trafficking Prevention Program. The program seeks to reduce human trafficking throughout North America through coordinated enforcement and investigative and educational awareness measures within the commercial motor vehicle industry.

CVSA and the Indiana State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division collaborate with TAT (formerly Truckers Against Trafficking) ( https://tatnonprofit.org/ ) to engage and equip the commercial vehicle industry in the fight against human trafficking. Over 2.5 million professionals in the trucking industry have been trained by TAT.
