Union-Snyder Community Action Agency

Union-Snyder Community Action Agency Union-Snyder CAA is a member of a nationwide network of Community Action Agencies

Union-Snyder CAA is dedicated to improving our community by helping individuals and families living in low income reach self-sufficiency. We accomplish this by providing services in five components:

- Community Services: Services available to low income families and individuals through Community Services include Housing Assistance, Energy Assistance, Transportation Assistance, Food Referrals, and more.

- Veterans Affairs: Union-Snyder CAA is the home of the Snyder County Veterans Affairs Office, which assists veterans, widows, and dependent children in obtaining benefits that are available from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

- CORE Susquehanna AmeriCorps: Union-Snyder CAA administers the local branch of the national AmeriCorps service program. Members commit to a term of service at a local nonprofit organization in exchange for benefits like education support.

- Community Outreach: Union-Snyder CAA works in partnership with local organizations and communities to alleviate the causes and impacts of poverty in Union and Snyder Counties through programs like Strengths-Based Family Worker Credentials & Leadership Certificate, Poverty Simulations, The Linen Closet (TLC) Donation Collection, VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance), and an annual Family Service Conference each spring.

The Community Giving Foundation Annual Meeting yesterday was such an incredible reminder of what our community is capable of when we come together. It’s a privilege to partner with the organizations inside and beyond this room, and to see the phenomenal growth of the Community Giving Foundation and its impact. As an organization that has gotten support from CGF for our programs, it truly makes the difference when it comes to serving our community 🤍

Hunger Action Month is a time for all of us to show our commitment to make sure everyone is able to put a meal on the table. One way that CAA is doing that is through our partnership with DoorDash Impact, which is marking 150 million meals delivered through Project DASH! We are proud to be a part of this incredible milestone by helping in the fight against hunger in Union and Snyder Counties.

We are so grateful to Empire Beauty School at Shamokin Dam for coordinating a generous donation of school supplies for our clients in need! Back to School is an exciting time of year, but for many it means big lists of supplies and paychecks spread thin. We’re so thankful for local businesses helping us make Back to School a time of joy with these special donations.

Empire Beauty School received back to school donations from students, clients, staff, and employees of WE ARE Basement Waterproofing Experts LLC. Thank you so much to all who contributed!
