I really hate to be dramatic, but I need you to understand what’s going on with the mayoral and city council runoff. Voting for Michael French and Nikki Shaw, or not voting at all, are votes for a Trump train takeover of city council. It really is that serious.
Please don’t make the mistake of thinking this is just another mayoral election.
The same people behind the Trump train, the people who drove the Biden bus off the highway, the ones screaming about book bans - those are the people supporting Michael French and Nikki Shaw, and spreading nonstop accusations of corruption and fraud against Neal, April, and the rest of the city council. The smear campaign worked against Andres Campos so they could get Toni Carter elected last year. And they’re trying desperately to do it again.
Their goal is bigger than the mayor’s office. They want control of the entire city council, and likely the city manager position as well, which is appointed by the council.
Neal Linnartz and April Ryan are the only candidates standing in the way of that. Yes, Neal is a conservative Republican. And no, I don’t agree with everything he’s done. But he’s not MAGA, and he’s not part of the group that has spent years trying to turn New Braunfels into another culture war battleground.
April Ryan leans moderate to left, but if you are a “normal” Republican and don’t want MAGA in power, we need your vote for April in District 6.
If you want New Braunfels governed by people focused on roads, water, public safety, parks, and the real challenges facing a growing city instead of book bans and endless conspiracy theories, please vote for Neal Linnartz. And if you live in District 6, vote for April Ryan as well.
Every single vote matters. District 5 was decided by only 2 handfuls of votes.
Please don’t assume someone else will do it. Tell your friends. Remind your neighbors. Make a plan to vote.
