Ten reasons to volunteer for VVCC Reason #️⃣9️⃣: Pay it back!
Verde Valley Caregivers volunteer, Ray Harris, has a passion for helping others. He recalls that as one of 6 children in a poor family in Massachusetts they were very grateful for the help they received from others. That early experience has instilled in him a desire to help others.
“Giving back is important. Those people [the neighbors] have done so much for us, for our country,” Ray says.

Ten reasons to volunteer for VVCC #️⃣8️⃣: Flexibility!
Volunteers are not tied to any required schedule or service to provide. Volunteer drivers choose when and where they prefer to drive. Hank, for example, likes the long haul. He loves conversing with the neighbors he serves and listening to their stories. Shannon, on the other hand, prefers to drive only in her own community. The drivers specify which days and times they will be available.
But volunteers don't even have to drive because there are many other services they can provide: friendly calls and visits, home maintenance help, temporary pet care, respite for family caregivers and more.
If you are looking for a volunteer opportunity that fits your schedule, check out what VVCC has to offer.

🌽Social Outing goes to Tuzigoot National Monument . Before the temps get too high, participants visited the pueblo where Sinagua people lived about 10,000 years ago. The group enjoyed a guided tour on the accessible trail to view the ruins. They spent time in the museum viewing pottery and other artifacts found at the site.

Ten reasons to volunteer for VVCC #️⃣7️⃣ It keeps you feeling younger!
Most VVCC volunteers are retired from their primary careers. Dr. Bob retired from pediatrics when he was 85 and now drives those who cannot drive to their medical appointments. Just saying, "I have to go to work now," makes a person feel younger.

10 Reasons to volunteer with VVCC #️⃣6️⃣: Learn your way around the Verde Valley and Arizona. Volunteers get to choose what areas they will drive in and they sure get to know those areas! Shannon only wants to drive in Cottonwood and there are plenty of neighbors who need to shop and have appointments in that community. Hank, on the other hand, likes to travel all over Northern AZ. Annie (pictured) likes to drive in the whole Verde Valley. She says, “I’ve learned so much about the communities -- found all kinds of cool things .”
