***Update***The contractors have told us the water will be shut off temporarily Tuesday, May 5 at 8:30am instead of May 4th***
The KDHE project continues. The contractors have said they will have to temporarily shut off the water today to work on the valves. Sorry for the short notice but they just informed us this morning.

Contractors for the KDHE water project will be working on leaks & valve replacements beginning April 27th. There may be periods of low water pressure and temporary water shut offs over the next few days.

Elgin residents…Work on Well #2 unexpectedly started today, April 6 instead of tomorrow, April 7. We are now operating off Well #3 so please use water conservatively over the next few days. Thank you.

Work on Well #2 is scheduled for April 7th & 8th next week. We will be on Well #3 during the repair but there could be an issue with draw down of this well. Residents are asked to conserve water usage over the work days next week.

The Elgin Water Improvement Project is expected to start the end of February 2026. This project has been in the works for over 2 years and is funded by the State Revolving Fund, administered by the KDHE. This will get our Well #3 operational again and make needed repairs to Well #2. Valves will be replaced to allow isolation of Elgin’s water system. This project is essential for Elgin to have a reliable system with both wells operable. The Mayor, Joe Freisberg, Council members and our Clerk, Pam Watson have worked diligently to make this happen.

We are aware the City’s water pressure is quite low. It is an electrical problem & we are working to repair it at this time.
