Secondary Division-Marshall Public Schools

Secondary Division-Marshall Public Schools This page will feature information from Marshall High School and Bueker Middle School. Bueker Middle School is located at 565 South Odell and houses grades 6-8.

Marshall High School is located at 805 South Miami and houses grades 9-12. The first school was built in 1849-50 for $250 on South Odell. Controversy existed into the 1870’s over whether elementary education was a function of the church or state. The court house burned during the Civil War in 1864, so there is very little factual school information that exists before this time. In 1881, Benton Sch

ool was the first school where students 1st through 8th grade attended. There were a few high school classes offered as well.

Science looks a little different at BMS this year, and we are excited about it.

This year, BMS is piloting Stile, a new science curriculum, as we explore options for the future. Recently, a Stile Professional Learning Specialist spent the day at BMS teaching a Sound Demo Lab with our students. This gave our science teachers the chance to watch the curriculum in action, learn alongside our students, and talk about what they can take back to their own classrooms.

And these pictures really tell the story. Our students were collaborating, experimenting, problem solving, and having fun while learning science.

A pilot gives us the chance to see what works with our teachers and our students before making decisions. We are excited to keep learning and see where this takes science instruction at BMS.

What a way to start a Friday at BMS! ❤️🖤

A huge thank you to our MHS cheerleaders and football players for helping us kick off the morning with high-fives, smiles, and plenty of school spirit as our students walked through the doors.

This is one of those MPS traditions that may seem like a small thing, but it makes a big impact. Our BMS students love seeing the high school students show up for them, and we love giving our younger students a chance to see the leaders they can become.

There is something pretty special about watching our Owls of all ages support one another.

Thank you, MHS Cheer and Football, for making our Friday morning a great one. Good luck tonight! Go Owls! ❤️🖤🦉

IMPORTANT FOOTBALL GAME INFORMATION‼️‼️
Parking Updates❗️

Welcome to the First Home Game: Back in Black!

Get ready, Marshall! Our first home football game is almost here, and we are kicking off the season with an electric "Back in Black" theme. We encourage everyone to wear black, bring your school spirit, and get loud to support our team.

Due to the anticipated heat, kickoff is scheduled for 8:00 PM‼️

Admission & Ticketing
We are happy to offer a variety of convenient payment options at the gate, including cash, card, and tap-to-pay.
* Adults: $5
* MHS Students: Free
* Other Students: $3
* Ages 60+: Free
* Military: Free
* Family Pass (more than 3): $15
* Booster Activity Pass: Free

NOTE: For the safety and enjoyment of all, students below high school grade level must be accompanied by a parent or chaperone to attend the event.

Game Day Parking & Transportation
To ensure a smooth arrival and departure for everyone, please review our parking plan. Shuttles will be available to transport guests from all three parking locations:
1. Main Athletic Complex Parking: Located south of the commons entrance.
2. SCCC Parking Lot: Located north of the stadium. A convenient entry gate will be open on that end of the track.
3. Rollover Parking: Available at the Sherwin-Williams parking lot.

Important Parking Reminders:
* Off-Limits: Please do not park in the apartment complex on Miami Street, as vehicles are subject to towing.
* Reserved Spots: You may notice a few parking spaces blocked off with cones; these are reserved for our event staff and officials. Please leave these in place.
* Circle Drive: This area is a designated no-parking zone. It is strictly for commuter pickup. After the event, there will be no entry allowed into the stadium parking lot, so please plan accordingly for student pickups.

Traffic Flow After the Game
To help everyone exit the area safely, police officers will be stationed at each location to direct traffic. Drivers in the main lot may use both exit ramps:
* South Ramp: Will turn south toward College Street.
* North Ramp: Will turn left toward Vest Street.

A Note on Campus Grounds
Please be aware that the soccer fields will be off-limits during the game. Wood and Huston will be utilizing that area for a special "hot air balloon surprise" that we can't wait for you to see!

We are looking forward to a fantastic night under the lights. Let’s show our spirit, stay safe, and cheer our team to victory.

See you there, Marshall—Go Owls!

Last week, our eighth grade ELA students kicked off their first unit, Mapping Identity: The Places That Shape Us, by doing a little exploring right here at BMS.

With our librarian, Sarah Otto, leading the way, students toured the building and thought about how the places around us help shape our stories, experiences, and identities.

We love seeing collaboration like this at BMS. Our eighth grade ELA teachers and librarian worked together to create a meaningful experience that brought learning outside the classroom and gave students a great start to their first unit of the year. ❤️🦉
