Tonight we’re very lucky to have personnel with us from the result of a very serious incident. It has become more common that all first responders deal with on a daily basis while working on the roadways and highways here and across the United States.

Early this evening, the Pettis County fire department responded to a vehicle fire on North 65 and Wildwood Road. Upon arrival, Pettis County Fire found that Marshall Fire had also been dispatched to a natural cover fire in the same area where they started attacking the vehicle fire first and PCFD finished it up. During the vehicle fire attack, a Pettis County deputy was blocking the roadway for safety reasons. An approaching vehicle failed to get over and struck the back of the sheriffs Tahoe injuring both the deputy and driver of that car.

I cannot express the respect I have for the other first responders and especially those that help to provide safety for Pettis County Fire Department. 
Please slow down and get over and allow room and tonight and every night please say a prayer for our first responders especially the deputy involved tonight.

On February 14th we started a new recruit class. The essential firefighter training was done at the state level. These individuals completed 12 weeks of training and tested out on their skills to conclude their class. We were very happy to finally have graduation tonight and got to add 10 new volunteer firefighters to our department.

Pettis County Fire Department was dispatched to Oak Grove Lane yesterday at 5:20PM for a car swept off the low water crossing. A boat was deployed for rescue operations to gain access to the victim who was holding on to the tree branches along with their dog. The individual had been in the water since 9AM and was found by a passer-by. The individual was checked out by staff from PCAD.

We appreciate the assistance of Pettis County Sherrif’s Department and Pettis County Ambulance. It was a great team effort on the rescue.

We had a great time at Smithton school yesterday. We joined them for some fun during summer school. Some of our guys joined in on the fun! ☀️😎💦

Do you know that as of today, Pettis County Fire Department has already ran 227 calls. Last year we had total of 640 calls and are currently 45 calls above the same time last year.

Our Fire Department has already battled 15 structure fires, 43 motor vehicle accidents along with the swift water team activated last week for 5 calls. The swift water team is required to have specialized training.

We are so fortunate to have this department. We really need your vote so we can continue with important and specialized training, needed equipment, become a 24/7 department and needed maintenance on our stations.
