Thank you Rick C.
"Sonoma and Marin are not the only counties that are taking advantage of the law permitting transit initiative to pass with 50% +1. Santa Cruz is doing it too."

Local volunteers are working to put a tax measure on the ballot this winter that would go to supporting Santa Cruz Metro and will be holding a campaign kickoff event this week...

  Thanks Jack!

Thank you dear Marin voter! Marin Independent Journal

Vote yes on Measure B in support of SMART train

A yes vote on Measure B is vital for our North Bay. As a senior citizen and cancer survivor who no longer drives, I rely on the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit train as my essential link between Sonoma and Marin.

One of my favorite ways to use the train is heading south to the Novato depot.

I love hopping off to meet my friend for “Taco Tuesday” or a treat at Rustic Bakery on Grant Avenue. Being able to stroll through downtown Novato without the stress of Highway 101 or exorbitant gas prices makes these visits a joy.

For seniors and students, free fares provide incredible freedom. Unlike the East Bay, we have lacked robust options like BART in the past; Measure B ensures we maintain this modern service and eventually expand to Healdsburg and Cloverdale — all without raising taxes.

The conductors are cheerful, the views are panoramic and it fosters a true sense of community. I encourage everyone to stop driving, especially on weekends, and experience it for yourself. Whether you want a relaxing commute or a beautiful way to see the Bay Area with your grandchildren, please vote yes on Measure B in the June election to keep our communities connected.

Jake Mackenzie Well said, yet again. Thank you Jake.
Don’t fall for the hype in anti-SMART book, billboard

Editor: There’s a billboard on Highway 101 excoriating SMART via the scurrilous book “The Great Train Heist.” I received my free copy of this $32.99 book via my board membership with the Marin/ Sonoma Mosquito & Vector Control District. Evidently across California, special agency members also received copies of this book filled with inaccurate information. This book is claimed to be a top seller. Already discounted by 70% on Amazon, with one positive review by the daughter of the wealthy publisher, it is sinking without trace. This vendetta against SMART is clearly directed against passage of Measure B in June. Don’t be fooled by a blatantly false billboard or book. Yes on Measure B.
