With King County’s homelessness crisis continuing to grow, what I have said for years remains clear: The hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars spent through the King County Regional Homelessness Authority (KCRHA) are not delivering meaningful results.

It is time for a new approach, and for King County to end its relationship with the KCRHA.

Survey results, released by the King County Regional Homelessness Authority, also show 64% of the homeless population lives outside of shelters.

I was proud to join the Council in recognizing the 161st anniversary of Juneteenth, a profound symbol of freedom and resilience. Together, we can honor our past and celebrate our progress as we move forward in forming a more perfect union.

The World Cup is underway, and there are few better places to catch a match than at Legacy Square in Renton!

I recently had the privilege of joining local leaders for the official grand opening of Renton’s hat trick: Legacy Square, Piazza, and Renton Market. I was proud to support this exciting vision and thankful King County contributed to helping bring it across the finish line.

It was an honor to join Black Diamond’s America 250 Heritage Day, celebrating America’s 250th, the Historical Society & Museum’s 50th, and the ribbon cutting for the new simulated mine exhibit.

It was great to join Commissioner of Public Lands Dave Upthegrove recently to officially open the Tiger Summit Trailhead!

Thank you to the many elected leaders, volunteers, community members, and staffers who helped see this work through to completion. I was proud to stand with Commissioner Upthegrove in support of this project to increase access to outdoor recreation and King County’s beautiful natural spaces.

On Tuesday, I joined family, friends, and community members in honoring the life and service of Major Ariana G. Linse Savino, a United States Air Force officer and member of our community who was killed when her KC-135 crashed in Iraq on March 12, 2026. The King County Council posthumously awarded her the Martin Luther King Jr. Medal of Distinguished Service.

Maj. Ariana G. Linse Savino represented the very best of our community and our country. She dedicated her life to serving others, breaking barriers, mentoring young people, and leading with courage and humility. Ariana made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others and our nation, and we will forever honor her memory with deepest gratitude.

Recently, I joined colleagues and labor leaders from across King County government for the Council’s annual Labor Summit.

Strong communities depend on good jobs, and I appreciated the opportunity to hear directly from labor partners about the issues impacting workers, families, and the future of our region.
