Washington Filmworks (WF) is the private 501(c)(6) non-profit organization that manages the Motion Picture Competitiveness Program as well as a variety of resources for the creative industries in Washington State.

Washington Filmworks is excited to announce the projects conditionally approved by our Board of Directors in Season 6 of the Small Budget Production Initiative (SBPI).

The SBPI is designed to support emerging Washington State filmmakers by offering funding assistance for motion picture projects with budgets between $20,000 – $1M. Projects seeking an early stage funding commitment can apply during application windows throughout the year, and fully funded projects can apply at any time. The next application window will open Fall 2026.

We're still beaming from our recent Spotlight event in Seattle, bringing documentary and narrative filmmakers from the Above the Line Education Forum and Mentorship programs together for a culminating celebration. This was such an inspiring day — we can't wait to do it again next year!

We love SIFF season! From opening night to industry parties, we've enjoyed connecting with filmmakers and industry professionals during this celebration of cinema. And the festivities aren't over! The festival runs through May 17 with screenings all over Seattle.

Washington Filmworks took location managers and industry professionals on a FAM (familiarization) tour of rural Yakima Valley this April. The group spent two days touring incredible film friendly locations, getting a firsthand view of all this region has to offer productions.
