ms and services to families engaged in foster care, and to adoptees and families, post-adoption. Foster and Kinship Care Services
When kids enter foster care, we help keep them connected to their families by helping parents and caregivers to build a strong partnership that works together to best support child(ren) while in foster or kinship care. We license and prepare foster and kinship families, and provide individualized coaching and support. We are proud to offer our services to everyone, regardless of religious beliefs, gender identity, sexual orientation or expression, marital status, race, ethnicity, age, home ownership, income, or education so that we can better address the needs of children in foster care.

Just a reminder that as we wind down Mental Health Awareness Month, mental health matters every day. Self care isn't a luxury. It's necessary. Working hard and giving of yourself for others means also taking time to make sure your own cup is full. So yes, take time to smell the flowers, take that walk, or do any of the other little things that make your heart happy.

Did you know that when parents are supported to build their own networks of caring friends, families have a better chance to thrive? Plus, when kids in foster care see all the adults in their lives cooperating with each other, they feel less stress. Our Families Building Community Program helps all the important adults in a child’s life bridge the gaps between them to best care for kids while in foster and kinship care, and also before foster care becomes necessary. When everyone in a dependency case works together, kids and families experience less trauma.

We're so grateful that Rep. Emily Randall took time out of her busy schedule to learn about the work of our Pierce County Early Childhood Court, a program helping families experiencing the child welfare system in partnership with Pierce County Juvenile Court.

Had the chance to connect with Pierce County’s Early Childhood Court Program and see firsthand the incredible work they’re doing to support kids and families in our communities.

They’re making a real difference — helping parents get the tools and support they need, and building strong partnerships so families can truly thrive.

So grateful for the work you’re doing every day to show up for our neighbors.

An upcoming concert at the Royal Room in Seattle will benefit Amara, presented by The Klein Party and the South Hudson Music Project. The concert will feature two sets of klezmer music, an instrumental musical tradition of the Jews of Central and Eastern Europe going back hundreds of years. One set will be performed by Seattle Fiddlesticks, an ensemble of young musicians between the ages of 8 and 18. The second set will be a performance of music written and published by Herman S. Shapiro in 1902, that has not been heard for over 100 years. It will be performed by a “supergroup” of Seattle klezmer musicians drawn from several ensembles, including Kesselgarden, the Klein Party, the Talne Trio, and Tzepl.
Over the past year, musicians affiliated with the Klein Party group have benefitted multiple nonprofits doing important work in our region, including the Jewish Coalition for Immigrant Justice NW, La Resistencia, the Northwest Immigration Rights Project, Donkey Saddle Projects, Food Lifeline, and the Rainier Foodbank. The Royal Room is located in the Columbia City neighborhood near our Seattle office.
We hope to see you there to support the wonderful musicians donating their time and to benefit the children and families Amara serves.

At Amara, we know foster caregivers can change the lives of children and families for the better. When caring people open their hearts and homes to children and teens, they can turn ordinary moments into touchpoints for connection, stability, and hope.
We welcome new foster caregivers from diverse backgrounds and regardless of marital status, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, home ownership, income, or education.
Children and teens in foster care come from many different backgrounds, faiths, and cultures. They range in age from newborns to 21 and have been placed in out-of-home care through no fault of their own. Circumstances beyond their control have resulted in the state removing them from their homes.
