We’re a couple days away from starting the SE
Covington-Sawyer Road Sightline Improvement
Project! This work will improve visibility and increase stopping distance by removing the steep hillside along SE Covington-Sawyer Road near 164th Place SE.
During construction, crews will occasionally reduce SE Covington-Sawyer Road to a single lane, just east of 164th Place SE, on weekdays from June 22 to August 17, 2026, between 7:30 am and 4:00 pm.

Get excited, everyone! The Gather for Goals soccer watch party in White Center is almost here!

On Friday, June 26, King County Department of Local Services and White Center Pride Committee will hold a free community watch party and festival along 16th Avenue SW in the heart of White Center.

The watch party is a chance for community members to enjoy the world’s largest soccer competition without leaving their community or venturing into the neighboring host city.

It’s also a chance to show the world that White Center respects and appreciates people of all backgrounds.

Between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., matches from the world’s largest soccer competition will be shown on one of five giant screens along a three-block stretch of 16th Avenue SW, starting north just past SW Roxbury Street and extending south to SW 100th Street.

The matches taking place on June 26 that will be shown include Norway vs. France; Senegal vs. Iraq; Cape Verde vs. Saudi Arabia; and Uruguay vs. Spain.

Heads up for anyone who uses SE May Valley Road!

A full closure of SE May Valley Road for the removal and replacement of the Fifteen Mile Creek Bridge will begin at 7 a.m., on Monday, June 15.

SE May Valley Road near Issaquah-Hobart Road SE will close in both directions, and a temporary signed detour route will be in place. The road will be closed to all vehicles, including emergency responders, pedestrians, and bicycles.

Due to freight restrictions on roads in downtown Issaquah, trucks over 15,000-pound gross vehicle weight will need to follow alternate routes.

The road is expected to remain closed through Aug. 23.

A detour will be posted and is available on the project website. Special truck warning signs are placed to inform them about using alternate routes. Crews are expected to work from early morning until evening, Monday through Friday, with occasional work on weekends.

Our team is making serious headway on the temporary Baring Bridge installation, just downstream of the existing timber suspension bridge. Work began on April 20, and the installation is expected to take up to three months. Right now, crews are beginning to install pieces of the temporary bridge across the South Fork Skykomish River.

From Monday, June 1 to Friday, July 10, 2026, a portion of 641st Avenue NE between NE Index Creek Road and NE 191st Street will be closed on weekdays from 7 am to 6 pm for bridge assembly. 641st Avenue NE will remain accessible to school buses and emergency vehicles.

Slide 1 - June 2, 2026: Crews have started constructing the temporary bridge over the river.

Slide 2 - May 22, 2026: Concrete is poured into the bridge structure to help make the bridge stronger and more stable.

Slide 3 - May 26, 2026: Crews are putting together roller pads, cushion-like supports which will serve as the wheels while crews push the bridge sections in place.

Slides 4 and 5 - May 29 and June 2, 2026: Crews are installing a temporary bridge “nose” to front of the bridge to help guide it as they slide remaining bridge pieces in place over the river.

Hi. It’s us again. We are back again with another reminder about the upcoming Fifteen Mile Creek Bridge Replacement starting next Monday, June 15. During construction, SE May Valley Road will be fully closed 24/7 between Issaquah‑Hobart Rd SE and 233rd Ave SE.

Right now, crews have reduced the bridge down to one lane on weekdays through Friday, June 12, from 7 am to 6 pm as they get the site ready for the full closure.
