WFTC stands in solidarity with WFSE members throughout the state demanding a fair contract! Today, we joined WFSE 1495 outside the UW Medical Center Montlake to demand that the University of Washington listen to the workers who keep it running!

We also call on the University of Washington and UCSD to advocate for the release of Robert and Nestor, two proud and active members of their AFSCME locals who have been unjustly detained by ICE.

On July 1st, as required by the USMCA implementing legislation, officials from the U.S., Mexico, and Canada met virtually to review the USMCA. Because there was no agreement among the three countries to extend the agreement as is for another 16 years, the process now moves into a phase of annual reviews until a potential expiration of the agreement in 2036.

Despite the corporate media’s reaction, this is a win. The USMCA and its predecessor, NAFTA, have been disasters for working people in all three countries, and extending the pact as is would have locked in corporate giveaways until 2042. The annual review process gives us leverage to hold the Trump administration accountable and make significant changes to the pact, especially if Dems secure a majority during the midterm elections.

This past Saturday, we came together in a PNW Cross-Border Day of Solidarity For a Peoples’ Trade Agenda! Thank you to our incredible PNW community that made this event so joyous and powerful. When we come together across borders and across issues and stand in solidarity, we all collectively strengthen our movements. Long live international solidarity!
