For more than 50 years, The People's Wall has stood as a community monument. Now, after a unanimous designation approval by the Landmark Preservation Board, it will officially be recognized as a Seattle Historic Landmark. Sitting at 1919 E Spruce in the Central District, the mural painted on the street-level retaining wall was dedicated to nine fallen Black Panther Members and has been described by Elmer Dixon, co-founder of the Seattle Chapter (SCBPP), as "a testament to the struggle of the Black Panther Party.” Link in comments to read more about the mural and landmark designation.

The Peoples' Wall is located at the second headquarters of the SCBPP, a critical hub for community activism, where they ran the Welton Armstead Community Center and the Sydney Miller People’s Free Medical Clinic — the first free healthcare clinic in the Pacific Northwest. The nomination was pursued by a community group organized as the The Black Heritage Society of Washington State.
