Homestead CLT Stability, equity and opportunity through homeownership. https://linktr.ee/homesteadclt

Homestead Community Land Trust creates stability, equity and opportunity through permanently affordable homeownership. Partnering with modest income households (who earned less than 80% area median income), we have created the largest trust of permanently affordable homes in Washington State. Every home we build gives affordability a permanent address in its neighborhood and prevents further displ

acement of modest income people as neighborhoods revitalize. We welcome the opportunity to serve community partners and organizations in King County whose goals may be best served by the benefits of our community land trust.

Help Build an Affordable Future for our Communities

At Homestead Community Land Trust, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to put down roots in a community they love. Our work creates and preserves affordable homes that allow households to build stability, wealth, and belonging while strengthening communities for generations.
We're currently seeking two exceptional professionals to join our team:

Community Development Partnerships Manager
Help cultivate the partnerships, community relationships, and collaborative initiatives that make equitable development possible. This role works alongside community-based organizations, public partners, and emerging leaders to advance anti-displacement strategies, community stewardship, and permanently affordable homeownership.

Chief Real Estate Development Officer (CREDO)
Lead a growing pipeline of nearly 500 homes advancing through construction, predevelopment, and early-stage planning. This is a hands-on executive leadership role responsible for guiding complex real estate projects, managing risk, and building the systems that will help scale permanently affordable housing throughout our region.
These positions offer an opportunity to be part of something larger than any single project: building communities where people can remain, thrive, and pass opportunity forward.
Homestead is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to fostering a workplace that welcomes and values people of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.

We accomplish more together.

PROGRESS REPORT: Skyway Coalition and Homestead Community Land Trust are partnering to bring 55 permanently affordable homes and community-stewarded greenspace to Skyway. This visionary project reflects deep collaboration with Community Land Conservancy, Mithun, Washington Farmland Trust, and the team at SMR Architects.

King County Councilmembers and staff leadership have also been important partners in helping move this work forward. Together, the Skyway community and Homestead have already raised more than $17 million and engaged hundreds of community members to help shape the vision for this project.

Special thanks to Rep. Chipalo Street and Sen. Saldaña for championing this work and its funding, and to Pettigrew Consulting and Eric Pettigrew for their support.

And we’re not done yet. Please lean in, share your ideas, help spread the word, and support us in getting this transformational project fully funded and out of the ground.

We’re celebrating World CLT Day on May 15 by highlighting Tanner Woodson and his work at Homestead. Tanner says he has one of the best jobs in the world — and honestly, many of us feel the same way. Creating and stewarding permanently affordable homes means creating more than housing. It means building stability, opportunity, and resilient communities that can thrive for generations.

Community land trusts around the world are demonstrating that land can be held in service of people, community, and long-term belonging. We’re proud to be part of that global movement.

World CLT Day is an annual international celebration of community land trusts and community stewardship. It brings together organizations and communities across the globe to share stories, learn from one another, and highlight the role CLTs play in advancing equitable and sustainable development.

This year, World CLT Day is part of something even larger. From May 5 through June 10, CLT organizations and networks around the world are participating in the first-ever Global CLT Virtual Summit — a six-week series of online conversations, learning sessions, and exchanges connecting communities across continents.

Brian didn’t just buy a home from Homestead, He bought stability.

Before that, he was moving nearly every other year as rents kept climbing. It’s hard to build anything when the ground keeps shifting.

In his Homestead home, that changed. He found work that felt impactful. At his job, he met his wife. He built a life that could actually take root.

After nearly 12 years, during which he served on Homestead’s Board, he’s now passing that opportunity on to the next homeowner.

Our homes transform lives, and create resilient communities.

Real talk about zoning, policy, agency reform—and what it takes to get affordable homeownership built in Seattle.

This week we welcomed Seattle YIMBY (Yes In My Back Yard) to Woodland View in Phinney Ridge: 25 condominium homes, thoughtfully designed, with a mix of income-qualified and market-rate opportunities.

Engaged residents and advocacy groups like Seattle YIMBY play an important role in advancing the policy and funding changes needed to make more of this possible. We appreciated the chance to share a practitioner’s view of policies like MHA, actual NIMBY impacts, and what it really takes on the ground to build homes.

We had a great time sharing the stellar views, walking through the homes, and having honest conversations about what’s working, what’s not, and what it will take to do more of this, faster.

Many thanks to Vanessa Bohm for coordinating the event! Until next time, YIMBYs!

Courtnee learned early what homeownership could mean.

Her grandmother taught her to value it—not just as a place to live, but as something that creates stability, roots, and opportunity for a family over time.

Courtnee saw how hard it can be to actually get there. But, her wise grandmother also knew about Homestead.

Through permanently affordable homeownership, we create opportunities for people to buy homes at prices they can truly afford—and ensure those homes remain affordable for future generations.

Today, Courtnee is a homeowner. She’s raising her family with stability, building savings, and investing in her future.

This is what GiveBIG makes possible. If you believe more families should have this opportunity—not just once, but for generations—join us.

This GiveBig, we invite you to invest in something that lasts.

At Homestead, we are transforming lives and building resilient communities by creating homes that stay affordable forever. That means a home built today will continue to serve families 50, 75, even 100 years from now.

We are building and maintaining hundreds of homes in our region. From Tukwila, to Rainier Valley to Phinney Ridge, which includes our two newest buildings -- Nest and Woodland View --, our homes are creating lasting access to ownership in communities where it would otherwise disappear.

Keeping homes affordable forever does not end with the sale. It takes people, systems, and long-term stewardship to ensure that these homes are built, remain accessible, that continue to serve generations of homeowners. That’s the part your gift makes possible.

So, this GiveBIG, we’re asking for your support to ensure Homestead remains the steady, trusted builder and steward of community-owned land and affordable homes that our neighborhoods need.

Please make your GiveBig gift today and invest in land, homes, and affordability that will endure. Link below...
