Highline SeaTac Botanical Garden

Highline SeaTac Botanical Garden Connecting the community to nature through a diverse and beautiful collection of historical gardens.

HSBG was created in 2000 using historically significant private gardens saved from demolition by the expansion of the SeaTac Int'l Airport's construction of their 3rd runway. Between these two full-featured collections lie an eye-catching series of beds sponsored by local garden enthusiasts, including the Puget Sound Daylily Club, the King County Iris Society, and the Seattle Rose Society.

Have you visited the garden lately? The Lins Peony collection is approaching full bloom. The Lins Peony Garden encompasses thirty plants propagated and hybridized by Eugene Lin, in the 1920s. This hobby grew and soon Mr. Lins began hybridizing and propagating a wide variety of peonies. He named several of them after his wife and daughters: Mary, Mandeleen, Marcella, Ramona, Rosemarie, and Dolores. His son, Gene, spent 35 years tracking down, propagating and preserving his father’s peonies.

Thanks to a grant, the collection was established at the Highline SeaTac Botanical Garden in 2023.

Mother's Day is just around the corner and now is the perfect time to walk through the Garden with Mom. Rhododendrons are at their peak, iris and roses are beginning to bloom, and the lilacs are bursting with scent. The Japanese maples throughout the Seike Garden are shrouded in delicately textured leaves and the sound of water and birdsong fills the air.

Pictured, in order:
Rhododendron luteum
Rhododendron ferrugineum
Crataegus monogyna (common hawthorn)
