The Oregon Coast is now included in Sunday's heat advisory. Expect lots of people at the beach and consider these recommended preparedness actions from the US National Weather Service Portland.

UPDATE: Heat Advisory now includes the coast on Sunday, June 14th.

🌡️ An Extreme Heat Warning & Heat Advisory have been issued from Sunday, June 14th through Tuesday, June 16th.

Daytime temperatures from 92°F to 100°F with overnight lows of 63°F to 67°F are expected to impact the majority of the Willamette Valley from Sunday, June 14th through Tuesday June 16th, 2026.

The Extreme Heat Warning is for the Greater Portland-Vancouver Metro, Western Columbia River Gorge, and Chehalem Mountains.

The Heat Advisory is for all locations except for the Cascades, the Greater Portland-Vancouver, and Western Columbia River Gorge.

Now is the time to prepare for hot temperatures!

🧢 Have sunscreen & light-colored, loose-fitted clothing
🥵 Avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day if possible
💨 Find locations with air conditioning
⚠️ Beware of cold water shock: wear a life jacket when swimming in local rivers and lakes

The Seaside City Council is accepting applications to fill a vacancy representing Ward 3.

Residents who are interested in public service and representing their community are encouraged to apply.

𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗟𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗗𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗘: 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟵, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

Applicants must be registered voters who reside within Ward 3, have been full-time residents of Seaside for at least 12 months, obtain 20 signatures from registered voters residing within Ward 3, and complete the online application.

Seaside Fire & Rescue will be conducting a planned controlled burn at the Seaside Airport beginning this evening and continuing tomorrow as part of wildfire risk reduction, brush clearing, and firefighter training efforts.

If you see smoke or flames near the airport, please do NOT report the fire to 9-1-1 or emergency dispatch. This is a planned and permitted operation.

BURN SCHEDULE

Residents may see smoke, flames, fire apparatus, and emergency personnel in the area during these times. Smoke may also be noticeable in nearby neighborhoods, particularly around the airport and surrounding residential areas.

Fire crews from Seaside and partner agencies will be onsite throughout the operation to monitor conditions and ensure the burn remains controlled and within designated areas.

𝗜𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗼 $𝟰,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

In response to ongoing community concerns about illegal fireworks, the City has implemented additional civil penalties targeting illegal fireworks use on the beach and throughout Seaside.

We're also actively sharing this message with visitors: enjoy Seaside's official fireworks show on the beach, but do NOT bring illegal fireworks to Seaside.

These measures are intended to improve compliance, reduce impacts on the community, and help police, fire, and other emergency personnel manage one of the busiest public safety periods of the year.

Our goal is simple: a safer, more respectful holiday experience for everyone who lives in and visits Seaside.

𝗟𝗜𝗠𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝗪𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗥 𝗦𝗛𝗨𝗧 𝗢𝗙𝗙 𝗦𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗗𝗨𝗟𝗘𝗗 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗨𝗘 𝗧

The City of Seaside Public Works Department will conduct an emergency water shut off to a limited area on Tuesday, June 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to make necessary repairs to the water system.

The emergency shut off is limited to Avenue T between S. Edgewood and S. Franklin streets. Approximately 20 residences will be directly impacted by the shut off and have been notified.

Following the repair, residents in the surrounding area may temporarily notice discolored water caused by sediment stirred up during the repair process. The water remains safe to use and drink.

UPDATE: Hwy 26 has reopened.

A fatality accident has closed Highway 26 at milepost 7.5 in both directions. This may be an extended closure. Use alternative routes, if possible, or postpone travel. Check TripCheck.com for updates.

The City is aware of odor complaints near the wastewater treatment plant, estuary, and surrounding neighborhoods and understands the odor can be unpleasant and disruptive. This is not a sewer overflow, there is no public health concern, and no sewage is entering rivers or other waterways.

Community members are invited to review and provide feedback on proposed improvement options for the Broadway and Highway 101 intersection in Seaside.

The intersection is one of Seaside’s busiest transportation corridors and a key connection point for downtown traffic, pedestrians, visitors, and local residents.

Maps, exhibits, project details, and tradeoffs for each option are now available online, along with an opportunity to submit feedback.

The City will also host a public open house on Wednesday, June 3 at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 989 Broadway.

The City of Seaside will host an open house to discuss potential improvement options for the Broadway and Highway 101 intersection on Wednesday, June 3 at 7 p.m. at City Hall.

Community members will have an opportunity to:

* Review proposed ODOT options for the intersection
* View maps and exhibits provided by ODOT
* Ask questions and speak with City staff
* Provide feedback on the proposals being considered

Anyone interested in traffic flow, pedestrian access, safety, and downtown connectivity is encouraged to attend.
