The SCCFB was established 30 years ago by community members who knew there were neighbors & friends who didn't have enough food. It started with a grocer who distributed food from his station wagon. Since then it has been a reliable source of nourishment for 1000 people per month, equaling 250K pounds of food annually. To be able to this we have a remarkable core of all Volunteers that provide lea

🍎🤝 Community Partnership in Action! 🤝🍎

The South County Food Bank is proud to partner with the Seaside Oregon Police Department to help address immediate food insecurity in our community.

Through this partnership, the Food Bank provides SPD with emergency food bags filled with high-protein, ready-to-eat items that require no preparation. These bags are available for individuals and families who need immediate access to food.

Community Service Officer Paul Knoch helps ensure these bags reach those who need them most. The bags are available for pickup in the Seaside Police Department lobby.

We are grateful to the Seaside Police Department and Officer Knoch for their commitment to serving our community with compassion and care. Together, we're helping ensure that no one has to face hunger alone.

Thank you, SPD and Officer Knoch, for all that you do! 💙

Huge THANK YOU to the team at the Seaside Post Office! 💙📬

On May 9th, during the annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive, our community showed up in a big way. Because of your kindness and generosity, the South County Food Bank received approximately 300 pounds of food donations to help support local families in need.

We are especially grateful to the mail carriers who collected the food right from doorsteps, and to the post office for ensuring these donations stayed here in our local community.

🌱🍓 Growing Food, Growing Community! 🍅🥬

We’re excited to share a wonderful partnership with the Clatsop County Master Gardeners Association to help our neighbors grow fresh food right at home!

Last Thursday, their team was on site handing out tomato, cabbage, and strawberry plants in reusable grow bags. Thanks to this amazing effort, more than 40 plants found new homes in our community!

They’ll be back again next Thursday, May 21st from 1:15-4pm, with even more varieties - including broccoli, kale, and herbs - ready to share.

A heartfelt thank you to the Master Gardeners for providing such a valuable, hands-on resource that helps families grow their own healthy food. We’re so grateful for this partnership and the impact it’s making! 💚

Today, we’re proud to recognize the dedicated Board of Directors at the South County Food Bank. 💛

Behind the scenes, these nine individuals provide steady leadership, guidance, and heart for our mission. Their commitment isn’t just on paper - it shows up in action every single month.

Together, our board members represent an incredible 84 combined years of service on the board. Even more inspiring, they don’t just govern - they roll up their sleeves and volunteer 60 hours every month right alongside our team!

Their hands-on involvement, experience, and deep care for our community help keep our food bank strong, responsive, and rooted in service.

To our Board of Directors: thank you for your time, your leadership, and your willingness to serve in so many ways. South County Food Bank is better because of you!

🌟 Did you know you might qualify for support from the South County Food Bank?

Many in our community assume food bank services are only for those in extreme hardship - but that’s not the case! What matters for eligibility through USDA-TEFAP guidelines is your household income, and you might be surprised where those limits fall.

📌 For example, for a family of 4, the current income eligibility guidelines say:
👉 Monthly income limit: $8,250
👉 Annual income limit: $99,000
That means if a family of 4 earns less than those amounts, they may qualify.

Now let’s look at our local community:

📍 According to recent data, the median household income in Clatsop County is roughly $68,700-$71,800 per year. That’s well under the TEFAP eligibility limit for a family of 4.

Even families who feel like they're “getting by” might still qualify for food bank support - and that’s okay! The goal of our program is to help members of our community thrive, not just survive.

🥦🍞 No one should hesitate to reach out. If your household income is near or below the TEFAP limits, you are encouraged to stop by or call us to see what support you qualify for.

Let’s take care of one another 💛 - please share this or tag someone who might find this helpful!

We’re shining a light on two incredible volunteers at the South County Food Bank - Ken and TJ! 🌟

Last fall, Ken and TJ moved to Seaside after spending two years in Thailand with the Peace Corps. During their service, Ken taught English while TJ focused on life skills education, including women’s empowerment, and helped develop day camps for kids in local communities.

When they returned to the U.S., they chose Seaside as their new home (lucky us!) - and they wasted no time finding ways to give back.

For the past six months, we’ve been blessed by their time and energy at the food bank. Ken and TJ bring true teamwork, positivity, and a “jump in wherever needed” attitude that makes a real difference.

Thank you, Ken and TJ, for your heart for service and for being such an important part of our SCFB family! 💛
