Happy Transgender Day of Visibility! 🏳️‍⚧️

💗 The City of Marina is proud to honor March 31 as Transgender Day of Visibility. At its March 17 meeting, the City Council recognized the observance of as Transgender Day of Visibility in the City of Marina with an official resolution accepted by the Central Coast Democratic Socialists of America Trans and Bodily Autonomy Group, affirming its commitment to being a safe, welcoming and inclusive city for transgender and gender-diverse individuals.

🏳️‍⚧️ In addition to celebrating Transgender Day of Visibility, the City declared Marina to be a sanctuary city for the transgender community. The City will continue to uphold all civil rights protections, will not discriminate on the basis of gender identity or gender expression and will ensure that City policies and practices reflect respect and inclusion for transgender residents and employees.

🌟 We celebrate the resilience, contributions and achievements of transgender and gender-diverse people while raising awareness of the discrimination and barriers they continue to face. All residents are encouraged to observe this day with education, reflection and support for the transgender community. Join us this Sunday, April 6th, at 2 PM at Havana Soliz Park in Seaside for a phone banking social to reconnect with lapsed DSA members!

Our chapter is active, thriving, and fighting for a better future, but we know that many comrades have drifted away over the years. Now is the time to bring them back into the movement. As Trump, Musk, and the right escalate attacks on migrants, the poor, and the LGBTQ+ community, we need a strong, organized socialist movement more than ever.

At this event, we’ll be phone banking former DSA members, checking in with them, and inviting them to get involved again. If we can get 20 members to recommit, our chapter earns an extra representative at the DSA National Convention, giving us more power to shape the movement nationally!

No experience? No worries! We’ll provide training on phone banking, answering questions, and having effective political conversations. Plus, there will be refreshments and plenty of camaraderie.

Come help us strengthen our chapter, reconnect with old comrades, and build our movement for the struggles ahead. We hope to see you there!
