COMING ON FRIDAY THE 26th! Please help us spread the word!

Our summer reading program begins with our Bubble Party Kickoff on Friday, June 26th from 10:30 to 12:30 pm here at the library. We will have lawn games, crafts, and of course, lots of bubbles.

It is also an opportunity to pick up your Carver Memorial Library Summer Reading Kit and Adventure Log. The further you get on our adventure log, the more prizes you earn!

The theme of our 2026 Summer Reading Program is, "A Summer of Sails and Tales". Every book you read this summer is a treasure chest waiting to be unlocked. Join us to map out your reading goals and discover oceans of fun along the way!

When you're on Sears Island for the Friends of Sears Island Summer Solstice Celebration on Sunday the 21st (12:00-3:00), enjoy the StoryWalk of "The Circus Ship" on the Homestead Trail!

Carver Memorial Library and Friends of Sears Island are collaborating on a StoryWalk® for children to enjoy along the Homestead Trail on Sears Island. As families walk along the woods path, they will find display boards with pages of the book "The Circus Ship" written and illustrated by Chris Van Dusen. This lovely book is written to appeal to kids ages 4-8, but will be enjoyed by all. This rhyming story is about a ship carrying circus animals that wrecks near an island on the Maine coast. The animals swim ashore and cause mayhem on the tiny island. Children will delight in the vibrant illustrations and the shenanigans of the stranded animals!

The StoryWalk® will be available from June 1 - June 30, and directions to the start of the story can be found by the kiosk just beyond the island gate. From start to finish, the story will cover approximately a half mile of the trail.

The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition and the Kellogg Hubbard Library.

Carver Memorial Library will be open on Saturday, June 20th from 10:00-1:00. We hope to see you here to borrow books, DVDs, puzzles, Take and Make Kits, and more!

Carver Memorial Library will be closed on Friday the 19th, in observance of Juneteenth. PLEASE NOTE: This means there will be NO Storytime on Friday this week. We'll see you at the library on Saturday the 20th from 10:00-1:00.

We hope to see you at TUNES FOR TOTS AND TODDLERS on Thursday from 10:30-11:00 in the Children's Room. We'll sing, rhyme, dance, read one book with a flannel board, and move with the shakers, scarves, and parachute (with puppets).

PLEASE NOTE: There will be NO Storytime on Friday this week. The library will be closed for Juneteenth.

Come to Carver Memorial Library to pick up our newest Take and Make Kit (created for children and available for free to all). Make a FOLDED PAPER PUPPET from just one piece of paper, and then use your imagination to turn it into whatever you'd like! The kits include instructions, ideas, and materials.

WATERMELONS is our Storytime theme on Friday, June 12th from 10:30-11:30. Children of all ages and their grownups are welcome to join us in the Children's Room of Carver Memorial Library for an hour filled with rhymes, songs, books, and movement with the shakers, scarves, stretchy band, parachute (with puppets) and more!
