Searsmont Town Library

Searsmont Town Library We are a small library in rural Maine.

Yes, we have books, magazines, DVDs, outrageously fast internet... but we also have a concert series and singular events, and most importantly, we provide a place for people to be, to discover, to meet and laugh.

Elsa Chapin, one our library's dearest and sweetest, passed away yesterday. Elsa was highly involved in the library for many years, serving on the planning committee for the new library in the Community Building and with the Board of Trustees. She volunteered extensively, helping to make library programs the best they could be and was a regular at the circulation desk in her later years. Children visiting the library, upon learning her first name, would stare wide-eyed and think of her as Queen Elsa from the Disney movies: and she is a queen. Please give a thought to her children Kate and Ebben, and to all her friends. We will miss you.
