We're observing Nevada Day by thinking of the people that keep operations going while the rest of us enjoy a time of respite. Not just ranchers but first responders, military, gaming staff, restaurant staff, and others that are on the job during holidays. We thank you and look forward to being there for you during your own time off.

Friends of Walking Box Ranch and Sierra Club are organizing some groundskeeping at the ranch Saturday, October 2nd. Details below. Come on out and help do some weeding around the ranch house and corral area. Stick around after and join us for a casual tour of the house and hear about the plans to open the site to the public soon. See you there!

Friends of Walking Box Ranch is holding another Introduction to Backyard Astronomy program on Friday the 13th. They must not be very superstitious.

UPDATE: this program has been cancelled due to the weather forecast. We'll schedule one again in September!

What's visible in the night sky with a simple pair of binoculars? Come find out! Weather permitting, Friends of Walking Box Ranch is stargazing on site Saturday, May 15th. We'll pass out star maps and provide an overview to navigate the night sky and see the universe. Bring binoculars for viewing, a lawn chair & beverage for comfort, and your face mask for safety and community. The program will start at 8:00pm, and we'll put program tips & tricks into practice for an hour or so immediately after. We'll be looking at the moon and a few night sky objects through a telescope, as well.

Attendance will be limited to the first 20 VEHICLES to RSVP. We're still asking all participants to keep a face mask handy and wear it when within 6ft of other participants and volunteer coordinators.

Its cleanup time! We have a team on-site today, cleaning inside the ranch house and especially outside digging out weeds and other invaders.
