Hi everyone!
Happy Election Day!
My name is Darlene Bolsover, and I am running for Third Ward Alderwoman against the current (and appointed) alderman, Joe Marranca III.
I am a lifelong North Tonawanda resident and homeowner, a former U.S. Army Staff Sergeant with 14 years of military experience, earning many service medals, including Connelly Award, I'm a retired nurse who has worked in the field since I was 18. Outside of my professional life, I’ve been married to my husband, Andrew, for 30 years, with whom I share three adult children and a beautiful two-year-old granddaughter.
If you’ve ever attended a Common Council meeting, you’ve probably seen me there, as I rarely miss them. (If you’ve never participated in a Common Council meeting, I highly recommend sitting in on one!) I have been a vocal advocate for N.T. at these meetings for many years. I am a member of the New York Collision for Open Government, the North Tonawanda Financial Committee, the Charter Review Commission, the Chamber of Commerce, the VFW, and the American Legion. When my children were in school, I was the president of NTMS at Spruce School. I was treasurer for seven years and was heavily involved in their school activities and functions. I have been an active member of the N.T. community my entire life. I was representing the Twin Cities at sixteen as Canal Fest Queen.
I believe in transparency. That government works for the people. Residents have the right to know their representatives. I believe in accountability. I think that all elected officials work for the residents and should be held accountable by the residents for effective and productive government.
I believe in responsible spending. The City’s money is *our* money. I believe in fair and equal taxation with 100% entitled benefits to seniors and veterans.
And finally, I believe that, with your help, we can win today! Your vote does matter. As little as 10 minutes of your time can and will make the future of the next two years.
