The Sea Isle City Beach Patrol (SICBP) is responsible for surf rescue, and for overseeing beach- and ocean-goers during the summer season in Sea Isle City, a barrier island off of Southern New Jersey. Members of the patrol perform ocean rescues, first aid, and EMT services on designated protected beaches. Each summer, SICBP lifeguards compete in city, county and regional lifeguard races. The patro

l also hosts the annual Captain Bill Gallagher 10 Mile Island Run; Captain Thomas P. McCann mascot school; 1 Mile Ocean Swim; and a Junior Lifeguard program. Prospective lifeguards must perform a cold-water ocean swim test, a running test, and an interview. Those accepted undergo a rigorous "rookie week" of training, which tests stamina on land and in the water, and includes classroom first aid sessions. Lifeguards remain rookies for the entirety of their first summer on the patrol.

The Lifeguards in Training Program is a must for any individual who would like to become a Sea Isle lifeguard. It introduces basic lifesaving skills and rescue techniques as an educational and physical training foundation for prospective beach patrol employees. Do not get closed out of this great program!
