It is with profound sadness and the deepest regret that the Sea Bright Fire / Rescue announces the untimely passing of Chief Kevin Saharic. Kevin was a long standing member of the department and his father, Lex, is currently the department’s oldest living member. The Saharic name is long standing and deep rooted with the Sea Bright Fire / Rescue. Chief Saharic made it a point to stop by the fire house often, always providing some guidance to the staffing members. Kevin made a lasting impact on many members of the department and will be forever missed.

FF/EMT Jack Gramlich delivering his “Head Above Water” lecture at FDIC 2026. Since 2022, members of Company 43 have been delivering water rescue based curriculum, both in HOT classes and lecture. Water rescue is often overlooked within the fire service but remains a top hazard in the modern day “All Hazards Fire Service”. FF/EMT Gramlich, with his long history as an ocean lifeguard, remains one of the most knowledgeable instructors within the water rescue realm, teaching his passion all over the world.

43 Truck goes second due truck for back to back fires.

Just after midnight on April 2nd, Box 2501 was transmitted for a fire in a restaurant. Units arrived to find a fire in the first floor commercial space of a three story mixed use occupancy.

Later that morning, Box 2501 was transmitted again for smoke in a multiple dwelling under construction. Units arrived to find a well advanced fire in the cockloft. The Truck Crew operated on the top floor until being reassigned to the roof to preform a trench cut. The fire elevated to multiple alarms including out of county task forces. The crew from 43 Truck operated for 10 hours before being released.

These fires mark the last few incidents of significance for the old 43 Truck. An end to an era, the 2010 American LaFrance was the last in the fleet which, for decades, was comprised of all American LaFrance apparatus. 43 Truck logged 232 working fires in her 16 years of service.
