SFTHS FBLA traveled to San Antonio, TX for Nationals June 28-July 3. SFT FBLA was recognized during opening ceremony for earning the honor of Champion Chapter Gold, the highest possible level to earn in the Champion Chapter national program by completing activities throughout the year strengthening our member involvement, leadership development, and community interactions. Our chapter was represented on the national stage by Kansas FBLA President and incoming senior, Gabe Smith, and his father Casey Smith (SFT FBLA’s right hand man and travel chaperone) was recognized on stage as Business Person of the Year for his support of FBLA.

Thirteen members from SFT competed amongst 18,000 members from across the nation and world. Our members came prepared and presented to the very best of their abilities. They were professional, courteous, punctual, considerate, gracious and represented SFT well. The pressure cooker that is competing at nationals truly prepares them to meet challenges ahead confidently.

In our free time students had a brief history lesson at the Alamo, took a river boat historical tour along the river walk, attended a local ranch rodeo, and enjoyed an afternoon at a water park.

Thank you to USD 434 Board of Education for supporting our students, to the community patrons who donated to the trip, and these students’ parents for raising them well and making this trip a joy for advisers Tosha Smith and Julie Smith and chaperone Casey Smith.

Santa Fe Trail will have a strong presence at the Kansas Shrine Bowl, held June 27th, at Emporia State University.

Julion Daniels and Alex Strother will represent Trail on the East Team, with SFT head coach Greg Slade serving as a member of the coaching staff.

Addison Kramer, Daniel McKee, Vanessa Roberts, and Tyler Shreve will represent the Chargers as members of the Kansas Masonic All-Star Band.

Good luck during Saturday’s football game and halftime show.

Dear Santa Fe Trail Students and Families,

This is a reminder that Monday, June 29 through Sunday, July 5 is the KSHSAA Summer Moratorium Week.

During this week:
- No school-related athletic activities may take place.
- All athletic facilities will be closed to students in grades 7–12 and school athletic personnel.

The moratorium includes practices, workouts, conditioning, competitions, team travel, and all other school-sponsored athletic activities.

The purpose of the Summer Moratorium is to provide student-athletes, coaches, and their families with a week to rest, recharge, and enjoy time together before preparing for the upcoming school year.

School-sponsored athletic activities may resume on Monday, July 6.

Thank you for your cooperation, and we hope everyone has a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable holiday week!
