The Arc is proud of its accomplishments over the past 50+ years. The Arc believes in inclusive practice at all levels of society.

The Arc has led the movement to deinstitutionalize state centers across the country and is responsible for the Right to Education - P.L. 94-142— providing all children a free, public and appropriate education. We encourage you to read all of our national position papers available at www.TheArc.org. Nearly 100,000 members belong to The Arc, US, showing their support of the advancement of the rights and interests of approximately 7.2 million citizens with intellectual, developmental and related disabilities. The Arc of Northeastern Pennsylvania is affiliated with The Arc of the United States; The Arc of Pennsylvania; The Lackawanna-Susquehanna (L-S) Behaviorial Health Intellectual Disabilities Early Intervention (BHIDEI) Program, Behavioral & Developmental Programs of Wayne County and Carbon-Monroe-Pike MH/DS. The Arc of NEPA is also a member agency of the United Way of Lackawanna, Wayne and Carbon Counties.

At the request of PAR, Governor Josh Shapiro signed a proclamation announcing that September 13-19, 2026, is Direct Support Professional Recognition Week in Pennsylvania. This week is set aside to honor DSPs for the important work they do supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism (ID/A). We look forward to seeing everyone celebrate DSP Recognition Week next week!

Some events are simply worth showing up for—and this is one of them.

I’m asking my family, friends, and neighbors to come out and support the 21st Annual Family Fall Festival benefiting The Arc of Northeastern Pennsylvania. The Arc is a phenomenal organization that works every day to support individuals and families throughout our community.

🍂 Sunday, September 13 at 3:00 p.m.
📍 Waldorf Park, East Mountain, Scranton

There will be great food, live music, children’s games, basket raffles, homemade treats, and plenty of family fun.

Adults are $35 in advance or $40 at the door. Children ages 4–12 are $10, and children under three are free. All proceeds benefit The Arc of NEPA Recreation Department.

Please come out, bring your family, and support an organization that truly makes a difference. When our community rallies behind a worthy cause, everyone becomes stronger.
