At approximately 4:30 pm this afternoon, Halifax Fire Department, with mutual aid assistance from Scottsville Fire, responded to a reported woodland fire in the 2700 block of Cemetery Road. Upon arrival, responding units found roadside areas, adjacent fence line, and a portion of woods were ablaze. Fire units remained on the scene for roughly one hour.

As always with any severe weather our storm shelter is open behind the station at 112 Halifax Bailey Rd.

all the fire departments in the county need help. We’ve heard all the excuses. I can’t commit to (fill in the blank), I’m not always available, I’m too young/old, I don’t know anything about it. They are just excuses. We are all volunteers. We can when we can and we can’t when we can’t.
This is an incredible job you get paid for in ways that aren’t money. If you’ve ever thought about it, contact the VFD in your area. The hardest part, is walking through that station door the first time.
We all live in the communities we serve. How can you make a difference?
Every fire department across the country needs help.

South Court St from the Scottsville Square to Maple Street will be closed starting Wednesday October 15th. due to the installation of the raised crosswalks. The roadway will reopen later this week.

The Homecoming Parade will be Thursday October 16th. at 5:30pm leaving from Jacks Shopping Center. Due to the road closure the Homecoming Parade will continue straight through the square down West Main Street onto HWY 980.

At 3:38 pm this afternoon Halifax Fire with automatic aid from Scottsville Fire. Responded to a structure fire on Hiley Spencer Rd. 1st arriving units confirmed a working structure fire. Units were on scene for approximately 1 hour. Also on-scene assisting Allen County EMS and the Scottsville Allen County Rescue Squad.

The Halifax Volunteer fire Department extends our heart felt condolences to the family of Greg Tabor. Greg was a founding member of the Halifax Volunteer Fire Department and continued to serve on the board until his passing. Greg had a deep commitment to his community and was loved by all. Greg you will be missed. Please continue to pray for his wife Teresa, his family and friends as the navigate the days ahead.
