Some moments in history stay with us forever. September 11 is one of them.

Today we remember the lives lost, honor the courage of those who served others without hesitation, and reflect on the compassion and unity that followed.

"Even the smallest act of service, the simplest act of kindness, is a way to honor those we lost, a way to reclaim that spirit of unity that followed 9/11."

Twenty-five years later, each of us still has the opportunity to carry that spirit forward. In honor of those we lost, consider choosing one intentional act of kindness today—for a neighbor, a coworker, a friend, or even a stranger.

At our Paiute Promise Neighborhood, young people have opportunities to learn, grow, build relationships and discover what it means to lead well — including through our iLEAD leadership pathway for high school students.

Because when young people are given space to grow into leaders, they can turn around and help others grow too.

We’re grateful for partners who believe in showing up for young people for the long haul.

Thank you to the John F. Long Foundation for continuing to invest in the students and families of our Maryvale Promise Neighborhood. Their recent grant helps support MentorKids’ free, year-round programming—from elementary and middle school through our high school iLEAD leadership pathway.

This past school year, 60 students participated in MentorKids programming in Maryvale, followed by 73 youth during Summer Enrichment. Each season gives us another opportunity to walk alongside students as they learn, build relationships, discover their strengths, and grow as leaders.

Thank you, John F. Long Foundation, for helping us continue building leaders who build leaders in Maryvale.

This Labor Day, we’re celebrating the people who help make strong communities possible. 💙

We’re grateful for the mentors, educators, parents, volunteers, partners, neighbors, and team members who show up every day with care, commitment, and a belief in what’s possible for young people.

The work of building stronger communities happens one relationship, one opportunity, and one young leader at a time—and we’re thankful for everyone who is part of it.
